American Idol - auditions? or talent?

I'm curious how many people enjoy the auditions more than the actual "talent", and how many people just can't wait until the top 20 are identified? I, personally, like to watch the talent and have no interest in watching all the crazy auditions. I LOVE the final few weeks, however my husband cracks up during the auditions and doesn't concern himself with watching the last few weeks. Which would you rather watch if given only one or the other? Cheers!

I love the auditions and if I had a choice to watch auditions or the actual contest it would be the auditions. I know a lot of the people go just to get on tv but it is still too funny. I've also heard that they are encouraged to argue with the judges. Sometimes they show old auditions on tv and I sit and watch the entire thing. I could never watch the actual contest twice.

I like to watch both. I can't wait for this season to start. They had tryouts ini Minneapolis this year. I may know some of the people. I'm from minnesota. It would be funny if I did. I watch all the way through. I even vote. I was upset about last season. Chris should have won it.

I agree with you about Chris, I was shocked!! I guess that's why we all need to VOTE! I usually don't vote until the final twelve. You?

American Idol - American Idol is one of the best and most watched tv shows ever.
I agree as well that Chris should have won last year and not Taylor. Taylor was funny and entertaining but I thought Chris had the better voice.

The auditions are much better! I definitely don't want to see people with talent, or what they consider talent on the show. If I want to hear good singing, I have plenty of albums I could listen to. If I want to have a good laugh, then I watch auditions and can laugh at the people who think they are talented when they are terrible.

I watch it from beginning to end....but i have to say that the auditions are the best part. I sit and wonder if some people honestly think they are talented, or if they just want to be on tv.

For me, I enjoy the feeling of watching "live" and sometime "entertaining " is more important than "talent"... Just my 2 cts.

I honestly haven't seen too much talent on Idol in the past couple of years. Sure they were better than the rest of the contestants but I wouldn't put them up against established stars either. For that reason, the auditions remain the best part.

I always found the American Idol auditions to be a bit silly, I think a lot of the people go on there and act silly just for the sake of making it on the camera. I much prefer the talent...Simon is sometimes pretty harsh to these people but I will admit that he makes me laugh and he's often right!

I agree that Simon can be harsh..but all and all, I usually agree with him. I prefer the talent also. I love watching someone's dream come true.

I like the whole process. I do like to see the people who think they can sing when they are horrendous! But I like the competitions also.

I can't believe some of those people... my hubby said it's their friends and families fault for not telling them the truth that "they can't sing!". I LOVE to hear the great ones sing... LA LA LA LA LA

yes, some people just want to be seen on Tv screen...and it has nothing to do with talent. ... there are some talents, just a few...

I think everyone gets a kick out of the auditions because most of them are absolutely ridiculous. However, I also love the auditions because I try to pick the winner right then and there. I picked Carrie as the winner when I heard her audition. I picked Chris as the winner last season, but sadly, he was not the winner. And the person who won hasn't made anything of himself. Clearly, Idol is not a straight shot to the top! I do enjoy the talent though. I love critiquing people when they sing..it's the best show to do that with!

Great job picking the winner so early on in the contest. Let us know who you think this year!

The auditions for American Idol can be hillarous! Some of the contestants would be better suited for American IDLE. I love to watch and see if I can pick out who will be in the top 10 at the end. I remember watching Taylor Hicks' audition and thinking, wow, he sounds a little like Ray Charles but he's wasting his time. I did spot McPhee though and predicted she'd make the top 10.

I love watching the whole process right from the audition till the finals. The auditions are so funny and really is great for light watching. Watching the whole last few weeks is also really enjoyable as we get to see how all the finalists really grow as entertainers and get to predict who will actualy win.

My husband actually picked Taylor Hicks from the Auditions. He was actually just walking in and out of the room...and when he saw Taylor, he said "HE'll win, he's unique". This was MONTHS before the final shows. SHould have bet in Las Vegas! LOL!

LOL! You're funny! You are like me. I hardly watch any TV at all....really haven't found very many shows I like. But I love MUSIC and I love to hear great voices! and yes, the auditions are funny, but I like to hear the real talent. And it's SO cool to watch someone's dream come true!

I would much rather watch the auditions. That's the funniest part about the show. I don't really care about the finals. Watching the top 20 being selected is much more effort than I care to put into it.
