Racism is everywhere. In the world, we look down on animals. Thus, the name calling like 'b**ch', 'h*g' and all comes by. Amongst us humans, we discriminate between continent, religion, country, race, color, triad even villages and languages. To generalise, I will give you a few examples. Javanese do will not admit that they are malay. They prefer to call themselves Javanese. From what I recall from a Javanese friend, the javanese finds themselve smarter than the malays; A chinese university student in Malaysia who does not know how to speak Mandrin is shunned by Chinese educated students (again, I would like t emphasize that I am generalising); Malaysian in general look down upon them Indonesians and Bangladeshies that come over to work. Same goes with Western Europe countries looking down on Easter European people. So, why are us asian marginalised? It has all to do with human mind advancement.. civilization, in short. The day us human can accept each other as they way they are are the day we will all be living in a perfect world and sad to say, we are a long way from there.

GreatWall of China - A prominent sight in China. A tourist attraction not to be missed.
lol.. the chinese uni student I refer to above is none other than myhumbleself.. As for visitng China, I would encourage you to!! It is a wonderful country!! It is a not to be missed country to visit! I took my parents to Beijing-TienJen-Chengde. It was a 7days/9 nights trip and cost is below RM1800 each!! And that amount include all the shopping we did for chinese costumes, souvenirs and all.. You need not worry about speaking madrin (as Chine's mandrin differs from Malaysian mandrin. Just like in Malaysia, the northen hokkien dialect differs from the southen hokkien dialect) as the tour guide would help you out in whatever way they can.

I try not to think of people as what race/nationality they are, so don't really have any specific thoughts about asians. My brother just recently married a vietnamese girl, so that was interesting. We had to do a separate ceremony in the morning at her parents house, and exchange gits, tea and light candles and things. It was pretty interesting :)

It is interesting. I'm a Christian Asian, and I've been only to one wedding and it was we normally think of a wedding: ceremony and reception. I get too excited when I see cultural things and stuff. :)

I see them as humans, exactly the same as myself. We all look different, no matter what race we are. My son is in a relationship with a Malaysian girl and we love her so much. He teases his sister that shes going to have boring white babies and he is going to have good looking babies.

Dear Euniceeleanor, personally I love the asian people. Bad and good are everywhere and in every people or country. If you are thinking about some jokes about them. Yes there are a lot of jokes about them (how they drive, what they eat, can't recognize one to other...), don't be worry about that! The same jokes (or differents) there are also in North Europe about South Europe, in South Europe about North Europe, in North of OItalya about South of Italy and viceversa... we are plenty of these things. Often they are just jokes not really offensive. Sometime are just to offend people... but we cannot do anything. Stupid people is all around the world!

Well in the idea of European people (or part of them) traffic in Asia is always a jam (they think because there are no rules) but probably the benr went to south of Italy were really there are no rules and traffic lights are just suggestions! About food is different because I am thinking it too: asians eat, usually, strange food, strange animals, strange soup. I am not saying that this food is bad but only that a lot of people here don't like it and think is strange (and me too!). I am sorry to say that I was in Malaysia and Singapore and I never taste your local food (yes I know I am not a brave man but I can eat only Italian food).

Sorry Eunice, didn't get all I wanted in that post. I think that it is riduculus what people think about Asian lifestyles, these people live as they want, they don't or at least I don't think they comment on our way of life...we are comfortable when we live the way we want to live, not when somebody says we have to live a certain way.

It's funny how we can take a few incidents and make them seem so much more important than they are... African Americans think they are looked down upon, Native Americans believe they are also. Asians in some places may too feel this way... Each thinks of themselves as a minority. Yet in reality they are part of a majority. 50% of the peoples of the world have black or brown hair. Of course there are many shades, but it is still dark hair. 35% have light or blonde hair, again many shades but still blonde. Only 15% of the world's people have red hair, less than half of them are male. Skin color, hair color, what difference does it make? Each of you is unique and should only accept the judgement of your own actions, not the actions of everyone who has the same eye, hair, or skin color as you. After all for the first time in history Americans beat the French. It's official, Americans are the rudest people in the world today. But then I figure what the heck, I am an American and I don't fit the profile. At least I don't think I do. Oh yeah and if you are short (I am) one heck of a lot of people have to look down to see you. As most stand taller than 5 foot nothing.

No words needed - No words needed
I feel asian people are very well organised and I have special sympathy to them. They have a tradition that I respect and they respect the religion and tradition of everyone in the world. I even had a penpall Japanese once. She was very well as a person and very clever, if I may say!

sympathy? hehe...why sympathy? asian people have very rich culture and you may even termed some of us to be conservative...or maybe it's only me. i have a few japanese friends myself and they are the most well behaved person i ever know.

I agree with everything that MSV said in response #10 on page 1 of this discussion. I've known different asians all my life and always found them friendly and quite intelligent. Right now in our neighborhood, we have neighbors from India and a couple who are from Malaysia (him) & Singapore (her). They're great friends and neighbors. I worked in the same building with the nicest guy from India. I really missed our chats after we moved to another location. Years ago, we had a Korean woman in our neighborhood and she was such a friendly person, just a little shy at times.

He.....being an Indian, i do belong to Asia and now, you tell me what kind of a person i am ...ha....ha... Talking of indians, we have different religion people here with different cultures, beliefs etc.....i heard that Asians are treated as lower citizens from more developed countries and i really don't know how far is it true....and if it is true, then it is really bad...isn't it?

that's why i would like to find out..but being from india, i would say that you have very good english, my friend!

hey do you know that indians were once ruled by the british people..so indian english is bound to be good.and moreover english is the communication language here.its also the official language.all the works of central government are carried out in english.so we people speak english better than most other..and india have more call centres than any other place in asia handling usa and uk customers..so..give up your false notion that indians speak bad english.

Other than the fact that I think many Asian women are some of the most breathtakingly beautiful in the world, I really have no opinion based on race. Asian, Caucasian, Black, etc. We all laugh, cry, live and die. No one is anymore prone to good or evil because of their skin color or the shape of their eyes.

my wife and me - my wife and me
hi there I Swiss and about 8 years ago I married a Thai. In the beginning it was a little bit difficult 'cause of the huge difference between our cultural roots. But with respect and tolerance we could solve together all those "problems" an misunderstandings.

Personally, I don't look down on Asian people. Many people who have come from asian countires to the United States have tried very hard to become part of the US and learn the language. I applaud them for that. I have always though that Asian people were viewed as hard workers who are intelligent. I have never hear dotherwise.

I am asian and I love asian people so I have no problems with them at all but sometimes I do feel like people here in the states have problems with asian people. Kids used to make fun of me when I was younger because of my small eyes and my last name and because I am half chinese. They would make all sorts of chinese jokes. It has been very difficult as an adult to find someone to go out with or have a girlfriend. I have some other asian guy friends who can't find girlfriends either.

I do not have any problems with anyone's race/creed/ or color. I have problems with individuals, I go by their personality. I have never heard anything negative about Asians as a group where I live. I don't even know if we have anyone with that nationality. I don't think they would want to live here anyway. We do have an Air Base here so maybe Asians are present, but I never see them. I like you and the fact you are Asian I guess I like Asians. :)

I won't stereotype people, because everyone is an individual and you can't assume how someone or act or what they know based on their nationality. People are a product of their experiences, not their race.

When I see or meet people I never think twice about the color or their skin or the shapes of their eyes. Personally I am extremely attracted to asian men. I love Asian & filipino men more than I love men who are of my own race. There is so much more to a person than the color of their skin or where they are from.

asian people are very cool and have a very interesting personalities. some nations tend to look at them as third class citizen and a laborers because you can see a lot of asians working as domestic helpers in other countries, that's for me why other countries looked down on them...they thought that we asians are nothing compared to as small as mustard seed or dog that they could easily what ever they wanted the asian to do... generally, asians are really a nice people and fun to be with... just a thought... http://aglocoph.blogspot.com
