censorship is so insidious that we never know when it has taken place. I am sure it does go on in most countries but some are better at it than others. Ever wondered which items are on the news, who decides and isnt this just a more subtle kind of censorship ?

Yes, it is indeed cencored in most of the middle east and asian countries. This is not fair and good from that part of the government. It is just like denying the news itself.

Yes, United States for example. Press was controlled by their government. Don't you realize that for along time ago?

I'd say it is to one extent or another, in all countries. I would have said the UK was pretty good about not too much censorship in the news, but about 10 years ago I remember changing a channel to watch a prorgramme, and caught the end of a news rundown, where they summarise the headlines they've covered. one was "scientists have found evidence that life on mars exists" I thought, oooh, that's interesting, I'll watch the next news programme. not a mention of it.

The news is censored in the U.S. more than you know. They only want to tell you want they want you to know. Also there is so much political correctness, news achors can not speak there mind. They can only say what is written on a telepromptor by a producer.
