Should People Dress Pets?

United States
September 19, 2006 12:45am CST
Pets generally don't like the stupid costumes people put on them; it's a bit degrading. Jay Leno has spoken out about this issue. What's your opinion? Have you tried to dress your pet?

cant believe you all are just interested in what the pet's owner thinks...too bad. humans feel the weather bcoz we have been used to living like that ....and pets have their own ways of facing the weather....dont think they need a special protection from our side...plus ,did anyone even think abt wht they wud feel ?

I don't think it's necessary, they are already born with a coat.

I don't think pets need to be dressed. It depends on the owners point of view.

I think its something no one should do. I think god never wanted animals to be dressed. He wanted them to be just the way they are. There should be some differences between man and animals and since these days if are acting liek animals so i think cloths are the only thing that differentiate us with animals. So i dont think animals should wear cloths cause its purely not natural

Around here, people dress their pets in the winter to help them stay warm. Even with their fur, it can get a little too cold for them.

I think it is stupid. Aniamls don't need clothes because they have fur.

i dont think so because it is not humane to not animals in unnatural conditions and dressing them up is putting them in unnatural conditions

I dress my girls(dogs)in sweaters in the winter because they are small and won't take care of business if they are cold. It's no problem getting them dressed, they don't want you to take them off

Not unless they are little/small dogs and are being taken out for a walk in the cold weather. Sorry but dogs are pets and not babies/children much as they are loved.

Costumes? Not at all, I feel sbad for the animals who get dressed that way. If they are hairless or do not have protection from the elements, then I believe some type of sweater/blanket/cover is necessary, as these animals a shield of sorts when severe weather conditions occur (for instance a Mexican hairless chihuahua and snow). The furthest I ever dress my pets are in bandannas...this is just the dogs, though - not the hamsters, lol. *giggles at thought of hamsters in bandannas*
