Although my dog is very small (American Eskimo) but it it is 1 feet high but it jumps more than 4 feet high to grab anything from my hand. How can i teach him not to jump.

My dog is part Eskimo! Anyway, my Aunt's dog likes to jump on people when he gets excited. For some reason though if you give him something to put in his mouth (a toy, boot...) he won't jump! Not sure if it will work with your dog or not but worth a try!

Well, you don't give him a new toy everytime he jumps, you just give him one he already has.

just think how your mom made you sit when you was a baby boy and then try it on your dog

I think that u should hide edibles for ur dog and should n't show him that u brought something for eating for it. Sit close to ur dog and then give the edible to it. I think that if u'll repeat ur this habbit for a week then urs dog'll forget to jump. Sorry, i do n't have any other suggestion about it.

oh you have to start teaching your dog to obey you. its your way or his. be firm and do not be fooled with his pathetic eyes. when dogs are disciplined you can teach him more than just sit, and stay. goodluck.

The trainer I took my german shephard too was into positive training she had two ways the simplest is to simply ignore the bad behaivor then when the dog stops reward that .If that does not work or the dog is to bad try a spray bottle with water sprayed to the face saying no at the same time it more is to get thier attention but it really works .

Dog Training - Dog Training
One thing you need to do is to be consistent or else you have no chance of training your new dog. Tell him to sit and then reinforce it by putting your hand on his rear end and forcing him down. When he does that, give him a small treat but not until he is sitting as you want. Also do not allow him to eat his meal unless he is sitting, which can be hard but he will soon learn. Our poor old dog used to come out when we put her food out and then on command sit and wait till we gave her a pat and said "good girl", then she could eat. You can do the same with your dog but it does mean being consistent. If he jumps up, tap him on the nose as that is the most sensitive part of the dog. Do not hit hard, just a gentle tap and do that everytime he does something wrong. Do not reward him when he does something wrong. Good luck and I hope that this helps, even a little.

keep telling the dog to get down or no jumping (it does work)and give him a treat when he obeys -works for keeping them off the furniture too,,

Use patience, encouragement and treats to teach your dog one of the most basic of all commands, "Sit." Instructions STEP 1: Stand in front of your dog. STEP 2: Hold a treat right near your pet's nose, just out of his or her reach. STEP 3: Slowly move the treat over your pup's head and toward his or her tail. STEP 4: Say your dog's name, and give the command "Sit." STEP 5: Keep the treat at nose level. If the treat is held too high, the dog will jump. STEP 6: Say the word "good" at the exact second the dog sits. STEP 7: Praise abundantly and give your pet a treat for any movement that resembles the sit position. STEP 8: Release your pet from the sit position with the "release" or "free" command. STEP 9: Repeat for 5 minutes. source: http://www.ehow.com/how_65_train-dog-sit.html

Find a stick and feed him meaty fried chicken. Put some condition. Like "I will slap you if your not to follow order", if it follows then reward it with his favorite food. Fried chicken is the best one. After 1 week, it absolutely will obey you!

I can teach him by speaking to him everyday and doing it by showing him how to sit.
