Run of bad luck... Karma/Coincidence?

My fiancess family is currently experiencing a rather dramatic run of bad luck. His grandmother has been taken to hospital after she collapsed, his Aunty and her family have had a bush fire go through their town and noone can get in contact with them, and his brother is... well lets just not get into that one, lets just say his brother isnt doing so well either?
Do you think all these bad things happening at once are a coincidence? Or do you believe in karma and that maybe someone in the family did something wrong ina nother life and now their family is cursed?

So you believe it was all coincidence? Why don't you think karma is real? Do you believe in reincaration or anything of the sort?
*Just for the record you do realise that answering all my discussions with one sentence answers that are barely related and conribut nothing is going to get you nowhere fast?*

I think that's just coincidence, things will get better soon. Nobody has bad lucky forever.
