Free hugs: What do you think about this concept?

Although the title of this discussion probably suggests this si a nonsensical question..it isn't. Recently on the news was a feature about a music video clip on you tube that showed someone being documented on the streets giving away free hugs. He had a sign around his neck and all. I think the concept is beautiful and reverts back to the innocent days of past society where we trusted the people in our community and could befriend strangewrs with little or no fear.

Why? Would you hug them? What do you think it contributes to society?

Funny... I just posted about this. This was an actual guy that almost got arrested doing this, but won out through a petition. It is a wonderful story. Just look up Juan Mann (I think that's right). You'll find a really cool story when you do.

hugs are considered a show of affection and emotion the video I saw on youtube was in tokyo, but its a great concept, I mean hugs are free, and can you tell me of anything in this world that is free... besides when I've given a hug to anyone I always feel better about myself. I don't know why that is, I just do.

I also saw a web site about this concept. It displayed a video of stranger offering hugs. the basic idea is to spread love and compassion in the community.I liked the idea and concept but find it strange too as in my country you do not go hugging people at random.People will thin you are aroad side romeo or teasing women and will probably send ypu behind bars for a night. But where its acceptable I think its a great idea.

Thanks for that great, insightful response. Was the video you watched on you tube? Its not really cocially acceptable behaviour here in Australia either, but I just like teh idea of, how you phrased "spread(ing) love and compassion in the community."

mmmm huggles - hugs can bring a smile to most peoples faces. have you had your hug today?
I will admit I am a hugger. Sometimes when I am introduced to people if they seem like a hugger to I'll give em one...lol When I was younger the church I went to handed everyone some hug coupons and asked us to give them out during the week. It was great fun. Once you gave them the coupon and the hug you told them was their turn to turn around and give someone the ticket and hug and try to keep it going.

I think this is a good idea. I don't usually go around hugging strangers, it is a little strange, but I am the kind of person that when I leave church or a friend or famlies home I will give hugs. I just like doing it. Lets the person know that even after I am gone I will be thinking of them.

I like it and I know that free hugging is improving all around the world. You can find people that give free hug in the street here and you can be one of them. Yes, I like it!
