Who is more important?- A Boy Child or a Girl Child or both?

In India, it is a known fact that most of the families especially in villages in the north.But i feel both a girl & a boy are important. I wonder if it the same in south india as well. But in America and Europe this really doesnt matter, does it?

They are both created by God and are him for His purpose. No, I don't think one is any more important than the other. They are both precious.

But in India, there are people who think that a boy child is actually a blessing from God and a girl child is a curse...is there such a fact in your country?

No. Sometimes you will find a family that wants a boy to carry on the family name but that's not common anymore. I think mostly older people thought that way.

I always wanted a girl so I could dress her up all girly, but I had three boys and I love them just as much. It makes no difference if you have boys or girls, only that you love them as much as you can.

Then why is it that countries like India still believes in such things? What does taht explain about their attitude?
