to all the ladies out there i just want to ask you this.."is it ok with you if your guy is a metrosexual?" I consider myself metrosexual because i want myself to be physically nice to look at and also presentable to the people. I use facial cleansers and other face cleaning stuff, put a lotion to my body, shave regularly, clean nails etc...just want to achieve a good look and neat one. My girlfriend doesnt have a problem about it and she encourages me to take care of my face. How about you guys and gals out there..to the ladies, what can you say about a guy being metrosexual and to the guys, are you a metrosexual?

Could you explain the meaning of "meterosexual". Does that mean you are attracted to Meteors?

Awesome way of putting it!! Ladies, it's like having all of the benefits of a gay man in a straight one!! We used to joke at my last job in the HIV clinic with the gay men all the time, saying that we wanted gay husbands for these reasons!

A straight guy who’s so cool, smart, attractive, stylish, and cultured, that everyone thinks he’s gay. But he’s so secure in his masculinity that he doesn’t care. - i think this is the best meaning i can give:)

I don't think there is anything wrong with being a metrosexual at all. I love guys that take care of them self and seem clean. You can be manly and also look nice. I think the men that make it seem like there is something wrong with metrosexuals are the ones that don't really know anything about fashion and grooming. My man also takes care of himslef the way you described and I think it is sexy.

Clean? yes. Effeminate? No! If it took my husband longer than me to get ready it would drive me crazy! So yes to looking good, but no to taking a long time to look good. If you are naturally beautiful you don't need to work at it.

I think it is great that a guy wants to take care of himself, as long as it does not become over the top.

I wouldnt mind it at all. As a matter of fact when my guy is home from saving the world (hes in the army) we always go shopping together. Of course he doesnt have much time for all the other things but I dont think there is a problem with guys trying to take care of themselves. Its better than guys who slack off and dont do anything

i used to not mind my hygiene back then that even after some training (running), playing other sports i choose not to bath or do something to eliminate the odor hahahah its not good, i find offensive, smelling bad. i consider myself metrosexual but rugged and athletic :)

Metrosexual - Metrosexual
There is nothing wrong in taking car of the way you look and present yourself. I personally take care of my skin and hair, although i dont shave everyday. Being metrosexual doesnt mean, u start wearing lipstick and stuffs like that...

I think its great when guys take care of their appearance, just as long as they are not to super vain. I like a guy who wont mind going shopping with you and telling you what he likes!! Its a lot better than a scruffy smelly guy!

Most metrosexuals that I know of are gay, not that there is anything wrong with being gay, but it does have a tendency to go hand and hand with this stereotype
• Philippines
12 Dec 06
yes it does have a tendency to go hand and hand with this stereotype. people judge according to what they see or percieve about a person and they tend to judge instantly without knowing what is it behind. Well that's life :)

I personally like a guy that wants to look after himself like you like to. Most guys don't seem to want to be bothered, but why not? Aren't you guys worth it too? And like someone else said, you do look very good ;) You're girlfriend seems lucky to have someone like you and you seem lucky to have a girlfriend that likes you the way you are. I hope things work out for you both!

tree - tree
it depends on how vain you are coz i think too much of that i would definitely consider you a gay.
• Philippines
13 Dec 06
im vain, i use lotion or those lotion that protects your skin from intense uv rays. i do use that kind of stuff because i don't want to have a skin cancer or something. the reason i use such product is because of my other profession. :) I'm an athlete, do some events in track and field and the heat of the sun really burns my skin :) so it made me somehow conscious with the way i look.

Hello there to you, I just live close by I am also from Mandaluyong Philippines. Actually, here in the Philippines, very few people know what a metrosexual is. In fact I am quite surprised you opened a topic regarding this, especially coming from a Filipino like me. Most of the people I know who has knowledge on what a metrosexual is usually has western influence like having relatives in the states or in Europe. I found out about Metrosexuals through a friends and through TV Shows. I guess it would be ok for straight to go metrosexual since its simply a better look and a way of life. It shows that you know how to dress up with style!

I've always been attracted to men who dress nicely and smell good. If I were single, I'd probably prefer to date a metrosexual over a guy who didn't take good care of himself. One cautionary comment I have is about facial cleansers. We women have been scammed for years by cosmetic's companies. It's a shame to see them starting to take advantage of men now too. If you're in your 20s, you don't really need to do anything to your skin besides washing with a mild soap (unless you have particularly oily skin). You don't want to mess with it too much, or you will pay for it in your 40s. The best way to keep it looking great is to eat a healthy diet, and nourish it from the inside. (Although in your 20s you can get away with a lot of abuse :)). Keep it clean, but don't strip away all the natural oils with cleansers or clog your pores with other products. This becomes more important in your late 30s. I'm sure as the technology comes along, we'll start to see things on the market that genuinely help older skin look better, but in your 20s you shouldn't need to do anything. You should automatically have the kind of skin, all us older people are striving for.

I think being a metrosexual nowadays is not a trend anymore, what do you think? anyway thanks for the advise :) I do have an oily skin and i just use only 1 brand of facial cleanser and i don't use mild soaps because my face is allergic to it :(

I don't see a darn thing WRONG with a guy or MY guy taking care of himself...pedicures, manicures, regular haircuts, flossing, or making sure he looks good if we go out. I mean after all he is a reflection of me.... I would think... I mean who wants be with a stinky, unkept, raggedy man. You go for it...but the painting of nails and makeup...well that is just a bit much!!! Just my opinion though!!! :)
