I would like to hear tips on managing money, just day to day things, not long term investing. Thanks

I try to really think about purchasing things. I ask myself do I really need it and even sometimes wait a day before purchasing. I also try to condition myself to put some change away in a bank in the house for a future vacation. I already have over 300.00 in silver coins, I don't save the pennies in this bank. I have other penny banks. Another thing is to put at least 5.00 a week away in a lock box or a drawer. I started doing this years ago and I am now able to put 100.00 a week away. When I pay a small account off I put that money away, because it will not affect my budget. Also, the best thing for me is to live by a very strict budget. I give myself a very small portion of my paycheck in cash and everything else is applied to the bills. I sit down every month with pen and pencil and write out which bills will paid weekly with my check. So far all these things have worked. One more thing I did, I started either coming home for lunch or taking my lunch to work, this cut down a lot on my funds!
