How long can you hold your breath underwater? During this time underwater, what is the distance you can swim without coming up for air?

You know, it seems that most people can stay underwater approximately 2 minutes. My Dad used to stay underwater a little over five (5) minutes. Sometimes that scared me because, to me, that was way too long. The reason he could do that was because when they were growing up, they had a weird job, diving for clams all day long. Thanks

Oh, I was going to mention that I was a smoker too, but I quit over 17 years ago and now I feel Great, lung power, that is. I don't run out of breath as fast now.

That's pretty fast swimming. Can you imagine how far you could swim if you were able to hold your breath for about 2 minutes? Remarkable. Thanks

Keep on going the longest you possible can. A little longer each time and by the time you know it, it will be easy staying underwater longer periods of time. Thanks

I haven't tried it recently, but that was about the longest I could stay underwater myself and could swim about 250 feet tops. Thanks

I can hold my breath for about 2 minutes or less, and I can swim for 20 meters underwater. Back in school when I was a varsity swimmer I can swim underwater as long 25 meters.

That's pretty good, 2 minutes is a long enough time without breathing for all practical purposes. and 20-25 meters is a good distance. Thanks
