(Husband knocks on door) Honey, you okay in there? Honey? Honey? ha ha That is not what happened but wow! How would you like to go to sit to go pee and see a python head sticking out of the toilet? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061213/ap_on_fe_st/australia_python ..."The ... resident originally called a plumber because her toilet was blocked," Phillips said in a statement released by the Northern Territory government. "I arrived to see a large python head peering out of the toilet bowl."... And just how would you handle seeing a python head sticking out of Your toilet? I think I would never want to pee again!

Holy cow... I would totally freak out. I hate snakes and if I pulled one that was seven feet long out of my toilet, I would go balistic. Man! That is the craziest thing that I have ever heard.

I don't know if I hate snakes, but I'm pretty sure it would freak me out too! Snakes in a zoo is one thing, but in your own toilet is a totally different thing! The thing that really gets me is that when I wake up at night to go to the bathroom I always have a fear that something has crawled up there and will bite my bottom. Though even worse then that ... what if my three year old was using the potty and that stupid snake was in there! Now that would be scary!

this is amazing. just thinking about it makes me wonder as to how did that python ever managed to get in through the pipes! no matter how much i think about it, this seems to be an impossible ocurrence. i understand why the thought of it gives you the creeps.

Oh, it really did happen. :) They had a septic system just outside the house/bathroom. And that is how it was able to do it. From what I remember...those people are going to move their septic system. ha ha So it will never happen again.

I would handle it by running and screaming, and grabbing the children. I have no doubt I would be so shaken up I would call the guards, the plumber and animal control from the saftery of a pub. After a very stiff whiskey!

It got i there through the septic tank. I take it, it is not uncommon for these types of pythons to seek a septic tank for a den. It is warm and is a good hiding spot. I guess they really don't have a sense of taste or smell. Ewwwww. Thank goodness I have a two story house and operate on city sewage! I am very grateful for that month fee now!!!!

LOL Well, at least you admit it. It was living in the septic tank. Carpenter pythons are nocturnal and would hide in dark places at night. I guess it thought the septic tank was the best place. Obviously, the septic tank was located just outside the house/bathroom exterior wall...because it was only 7 ft long. They had to pull it out through the septic tank because he was too fat to fit through the toilet. Too fat or not, I would make a daily run to the local gas station to pee for then on out until we found a house withOUT a septic tank! No way, no how would I want to have to watch the toilet while I pee'd!!! It's bad enough that those boogus emails made me think about a spider biting my butt....but a snake! Forget it!

Sorry, another link was posted somewhere in the discussion. I think there is a link on the first page. So you wouldn't pee in the toilet? Do you think a snake could come up the bathtub? I don't know if I would want to pee there...but could you imagine taking a shower and out pops a snake head? Ewwww!!!!

The link didn't work, but I'm hoping the man pulling the snake fromthe toilet was an animal control officer, not the homeowner! You wouldn't want some unqualified person trying to wrestle with a snake that big, especially if he didn't have some kind of weapon or tranquilizer at hand.

And yes, a wildlife officer for the Northern Territory's Parks and Wildlife Service pulled out the snake unharmed and released it back to the wild. :) Thanks for caring! :)

funnel spider - funnel spider
Oh my gosh! I had to look it up! They are ugly!!!! 2 inches in size is a bit extreme for me! I would have the crap scared out of me if I saw one. I see that a worse than a snake. And they are toxic! They have killed 13 people in Australia. I would NOT want to see one of those!!!

Blood python - The blood python (Python curtus) is a large-bodied snake found in the rain forests and swampy habitats of southeast Asia and Melanesia.
We used to get snakes on our toilet bowls too before. We have a big yard with lots of grasses and trees and we used to catch snakes there. Especially when we use the restroom at night, my parents would always remind me to check the toilet bowl first before sitting on it.

my God seriously i wannna know where u lived? its so scary...were u ever scared of em??

Thats better than a rat! I always check for rats before sitting down as I am scared one will climb up from the sewers. I'm not really scared of snakes and if you get help quickly enough they can give you anti-venom but rats? ewww, makes me shiver!

Sometime in my highschool days, I've encountered the same situation. I was about to pee in our bathroom when a cobra suddenly freak me out in the other side of the room. I run outside without even closing the zipper of my pants. Since then, I've been more observant if there could be snakes lurking around in our backyard. I found some snakes crawling in tall grasses and trees.

Cobra? Now that would be more scarey than a python as it is venomous. Yikes!

That's insane! It sounds like an urban legend, especially because I've heard it before. But I think it's because from time to time this actually happens. I'd be afraid to ever use the toilet again! Or at least I'd be checking things out very closely before I did! :) ~Wyrdsister

It does sound like an urban legend, doesn't it. But I gave the webpage for everyone to know I tell the truth. And your right, I am sure there will be spin offs of this real tail to make it worse. :) So when checking your email, beware...hahahahaha Because you now know what the real story it. :)

Geez, I would say that an experience like that could lead to very serious constipation problems. I don't like anything reptile. Just the thought of it makes my skin crawl, mice, hamsters, dogs, cats I am fine with. Even turtles are ok...but snakes. Not a chance, I would be out of the bathroom so fast that I think I would break the sound barrier.
