The War on Christmas - Opinions Please...

Is this whole "War on Christmas" thing real or nonsense. I've heard of John Gibson and his book. I've seen the emails. I've read the paper and watched the news about Wal*Mart and other retailers. What is your opinion? I'll share my views once there are some comments as to not guide anything either way.

I think its a big problem, I heard on the news recently a building put out the nativity scene minus baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The locals threw a fit so they put them back in it. I have seen a few reports lately with this kind on nonsence.

Thanks for commenting. I do agree that people seem to be coming out of the wood work to complain lately. I think it is because they feel left out. Supposedly we are fighting a war. I wouldn't know about it though. I live in a very very red state. The smaller towns (still large enough to be the county seats of their counties) have nativities in the yards of the court houses and have since as long as I can remember. Of course, even though that little baby Jesus sits right there near the courthouse steps, people in that town still gripe and moan about the Gibson's War on Christmas and the evil liberal Walmart in town with their "Happy Holidays"... Thank God that Walmart changed their policy. Then they can get their focus back on the evils of Harry Potter.

I think it's blown up. People and the News like to focus on the negative, even around Christmas time. The truth is everything will offend someone.

I agree. It doesn't seem like anything is "neutral" these days. Everything is politized one way or the other. And yes, the news does make it worse and other media types make it worse. I think it's because they they know they can make money off of getting people worked up. So they feel the need to tune in tomorrow to find out what new "evils" have been committed.
