Do you think that the U.S should have a national health plan?

I think that we should have a health plan that everyone can afford. Its unfair to the poor and the elderly folks to get such poor care. I know this will probably not happen, because there are too many people filling up there wallets. What can we do to change what is going on in the United States as far as the health insurance is concerned?

I've always thought we would be better off with a national health plan. My husbands' employer recently switched to Blue Cross, Blue Shield...a name I'd heard of for years. He had to go to the emergency room a couple of months ago, and the hospital didn't inform him that they didn't accept Blue Cross, Blue Shield. I thought everyone did! We found out after we got the bills! We found out that if he had gone to the other main hospital instead, we would have had to owe $1000 less out of pocket after insurance paid! I think it was pretty crummy of the 1st hospital to not tell him they wouldn't accept his insurance!

I too love in Canada where Health care is covered I remember when I fist got married it wasn't always so and we had to pay so much for it. Now that it has changed it is much better I have a friend living in the states. She is having major health problems Went to the Dr and he scheduled MRI and a few other tests. She showed up and they requested her health care card. AS she just started a new job she didn't have any. They actually sent her home. That is like soooo wrong. Why shold only the rich be allowed medical care. If a GP here makes an appointment with specialist, or tests be done It is no charge Wendy

I would like to see a national health plan in the US, but if nothing else they should at least supply all seniors and children health and dental care. Circuit breaker is available for seniors who qualify, and I do know there is something for the children, but they do not freely give the information you must do alot of research first.

I would love to see a national health care system go into effect. It seems the more I talk with people on-line the more I realize that the U.S. is one of the few that doesn't, at least of major countries. I agree though the problem comes in the insurance companies and other agencies that make fortunes off us. They lobby against it and we end up paying for it even more. I'm not sure what we can do to get the government to change but if anyone thinks of something I will be willing to help out.

I live in Canada where we have national health care. I think it's unbelievable that in the US people are not protected.
