Did you ever hear about cosplay?
People dressing like anime/manga/videogames/etc. heroes.
It is incredible how accurate those costumes are. Some of them are as perfect as some costumes of expensive hollywood productions!
There are competitions and world championships too.
Did you ever watched such a competition? or are you a cosplayer yourself?

Yeah! I am a cosplayer. Not sure if i'm a good one though. XD
I'm always cosplaying sailor moon, it's lots of fun to run around with her puffy outfits! I won two competitions already, but I don't want to join contests anymore...

Certainly. I'm not a cosplayer but I go to lots of events, and I'm kind of a cosplay photographer.
I even run a site with lots of pictures of cosplay, some of really big events here on Brasil. If you want, send me a note and I'll post the link to my site, and some directions how to find the galleries, because the site is in Portuguese that is my mother language.
About world competitions, have you heard about the WCS?

WCS stands for World Cosplay Summit.
An international cosplay contest, with several country preliminary competitions to choose the cosplayers that will be defending that country. Brazil won 2006 contest with Monica and Psy.

I used to cosplay as (following the lenght of my hair)
- Father Anderson (from Hellsing)
-Terry Bogart (from Fatal Futy, with his new Garou: Mark of the Wolves look)
-Vash the stampede (from Trigun, mustve wasted half a can of hair spray)
-Hughes (the swordsman from Trinity blood)

Yes, I know what it is and I agree with you, there are a lot of great costumes.
As for me I never tried it because I don't like that kind of stuff but I have seen other people playing it and there were some that really looked like the anime/manga character they were dressing like.

I like going for cosplay events but I'm not one of those^^". I'm going after cosplaying events for some times and for your info I found out that japanese are very gd in cosplays. Take for example my avater is one of the japanese cosplayers and do a yahoo image search on a charcter named Sanzo. Compare this pic with the anime one and you will be stunned! lolz.
