I agree, hitting a child does not solve the problem, it doesn't teach them anything except that hitting is ok.

NO, using violence only teaches them that it's ok to hit.

Thanks for responding. Its a very good point, I have never thought about. I was only thinking about the physical and mental pain of the particular child.
