Would you want to be placed in a nursing home when you're old?

I often wonder what is so bad about being in a nursing home with the posts I've been reading they don't want to be in one.
Tell me your experiences, ideas and perceptions or someone you knew. Is it really that bad?

There have been problems with nursing home staff being cruel to vulnerable old people.
Ultimately the only people who care enough to be kind to you in your old age are your own family.
My advice, try to stay hale and hearty and look after your health and try to go through old age outside of a nursing home.

That really is a problem. I wouldn't want to be maltreated when I grow old. And I agree that family is your good solace in old age. However, I don'twant to be a burden either.
It is difficult to stay healthy nowadays, don't you think so?

i dont want to be but i dont have anybody to take care of me so i might not have a choice

I'd hate it. But I bet I won't get the choice. I'm sure I'd have pets, and I would be upset if I couldn't take them. I can't imagine. I don't have any kids yet, so as of now I'd be on my own.

I have some friends who worked in a nursing house before and she told me that even though there are nursers take care of those old people, but because the lack of nursers, old people are not been treated very well. when I get old, I would not move to a nursing house
