I think it has to do with your "lot" in life. Just meaning your personal situation. It is an old cliche.

I even call it my spot, hence my username. Plus we and they hope to make a LOT of money? I thought it was odd to spell it lowercase m/capitol L, but I'm anal that way; )

This has been asked here before and we all concluded that it's name is similar to my space, but that name had been taken. It's our place to chat ("my") and the word lot is the same as space. It's our place to discuss whatever we wish. The name is appropriate.
