Do you think every country should have a monarchy? Or do you think it's a waste of money and totally unneeded in todays society?

Having a monarchy may well be 'out of date' in this modern society of ours ... but the one thing that most overseas visitors to England will tell you they have come to see all the old buildings and visit Buckingham Palace .. having a monarchy is a huge money spinner and attracts people from around the world in their droves .. All that lovely old fashined 'pomp and circumstance' that we have .. all the ages old traditons .. glittering formal pageants .. no one does it like the British ...

One must have one cucumber sandwich! Yeah it's something we can be proud of I suppose, like English tea too, and it does attract the tourists so a good injection into our economy, well there are some perks I suppose!

I love tea and cucumber sandwiches lol, I live only a few miles from Sandringham estate which is another huge money spinner and attracts 100s of people from around the world, everyone wants to see where the Queen lives, I am not for or against them but I just hope that if we have to have them, Prince Harry is our next King and not charles!

I think every form of government wastes money. Our White House has like 30 some Christmas trees completely trimmed with the most expensive ornaments. Why would anyone want that many trees? It is a big house...I get it. Have two or three....but thrity something? That is just a waste!

The Crown Jewels - Has anybody even ever worn them? All those diamonds sitting in a display... What a waste.
I think the Monarchy is a "nice" idea. Princes and Princesses give children everywhere a reason to dream:) I mean who wouldn't want to be royalty? But lofty ideals aside... what do they actually DO? Princess Diana was known for humanitarian work - mainly the way she destigmatized HIV/Aids patients. But aside from this - what has a royal ever really DONE for the people? Might just be a waste of money...

I have no problem with a country having a king or queen. A king can act in the best interest of the country without having to worry about getting votes for the next election.

I do not really see the point in a royal family, I don't think they do anything except live better lives than the rest of us, I think they rub poor peoples noses in it with their holidays and trips, while the rest of us live day by day trying to survive, and why are they so special, just because they were born with a sliver spoon in their mouth, they are puppets of the government themselves, they know nothing of living in the real world.
