I got into this conversation with Mr Doom and Gloom tonight with my brother. He even gave it a name - America Will Cease To Exist as We Know It! - Ugh! He was telling me that the US economy is totally dependent on the automotive industry. If for example Ford Motor Company closes, our whole economy will collapse. He chose Ford because he says that they will close in the near future. All I ever hear is how the world is ending. I told him no way but he insists on the economy being dependent on this industry...Blah, Blah, Blah. He drives me nuts! Then he tells me gas is only 15 cents a gallon in Venezuela...so I said go live there. So tired of hearing how he's preparing with stock piling food, water, fuel, guns - which I don't by that one, he's full of it cause I know he only has an old hunting rifle that my dad left him LOL! Any one got any good input about our economy and what really sustains it? I'd like to shove that in Mr. Doom and Gloom's face.

I have to agree somewhat iwht your brother. I do think it's going to get alot worse before it gets better and you can't depend on the Government to take care of you. Look at the people in Katrina. Having to all live in the Stadium in N Orleans. Would you want to live with complete strangers that were raping people? I know I don't because I have a 6 yr old daughter that has blonde curls and is cute as can be and a boy that is 5 and has the cutest bigges blue eyes. I would NOT want anything or anyone to hurt them. So I stock pile food and water in case of an emergency. I live in Texas and am in the middle of Tornado Alley. If we were without electricity or water I know that me and family would be ok and we wouldn't be there starving waiting on someone to come and help me. I don't go overboard but I do have enough so we will not go without. We have charcoal and a cookstove and propane. This winter we had a bad ice storm and we were without electricy for 3 days. But we had plently of wood, food and water to keep us happy!! It nevers hurts to prepare for anything that might happen
