How long does it take to recover from a broken heart

My friend split up with her long time live in boyfriend of 7 years, 8 months ago and she still misses him, he has moved on to another girlfriend but she can't get over him, what advice can I give her?

Recovering from a broken heart is very hard and would take years, especially if you haved lived with him for that long. It took me 3 years to forget my boyfriend of 6mos. Acceptance would be a start and loving ourselves would be next. Although it would be hard for her just to forget everything, she has to live her life still. Life has to go on. Let it be a learning experience for her. Let her know how the relationship had made her as a person. Let her go on...Life is too short
