Huge spending on marriage in India- Is it wastage of money?

Dear Friends, In india we spend lot of money in celebration of marriage, then many people spent whole life to pay the loans/borrowing for marriage spendings. Middle class has no option and they doing blind followings of rich people in marriage celebrations. Instead of that spendings that amount can be given to newly weded couple, who can use this amount in honey moon and settle their life. Do you think that in present scenrio huge expenses in marriage is wastage of money? Thanks for your comments.
