i recently went through my old stuff during christmas break and i found an old PC game called 'betrayal at krondor'. it's a game by dynamix (ages and ages and ages ago)and kind of has the look and feel of LOTR's Middle Earth. I remember how addictive this game was, what with getting booted out of an inn when your barding skills sucked (and getting paid when they were good); unlocking word-chests by answering clever and not so clever riddles; picking locks (and sometimes dying when the chests were booby-trapped to explode); and having a wide arsenal of good, old-fashioned weapons--from standard crossbows, to lightning staffs, and to (my favorite sword, in terms of names:) galon griefmakers. ten chapters (or was it twelve?) full of armored soldiers, eye-patched pirates, hair-raising ghosts, and nighthawk ninjas (which resurrect, good god), it made me giddy just thinking about traveling the dirt roads and forests once again. Of course, it wasn't easy to get it up and running on my computer. It's really sad how the new and improved computer systems (or OS, or the other stuff that computers run on...) of today usually make it next to impossible to play the great games of old. But now that i'm playing it again, let me just say that despite the pixelated graphics and the simple interface (as compared to..say, devil may cry or final fantasy 12), it is still one of the greatest games i've ever played. So there, i just wanted to share my love for a game that many may not know or remember. oh, and as a P.S. betrayal at krondor was followed by the game, 'return to krondor', but naturally, i liked the first better. :)

well, if ever you do get to play it, tell me what you think. i'd love to hear what a first timer (in this day and age of mind-blowing games that are coming out left and right) would think of it. oh and, do you have any old games you like yourself?
