We have had that trouble with our felines some as well. But fortunately it seems to iron itself out with a little help from the humans. I am reminded of our youngest and our oldest. The youngest wanted to get up and be played with for a few weeks but he seems to have grown out of that. I think just not responding to him is what eventually cured him on this. Maybe the squirt bottle some too. Mainly, don't play with them when they wake you up. Play later when you are up. Our oldest feline sometimes becomes so adamant about getting to go outside that she will wake us up scratching at the front door. But I think after months and months of therapy we might have finally taught her not to do that anymore. The biggest secret there is that if she scratches, she doesn't get to go out for fifteen minutes or more. No reward for scratching. We had been using the spray bottle to discourage bad behavior in this area too but not sure that has been a total solution. Putting her in 'kitty jail' has had a little positive effect but I think what really made the most difference is simply not giving her what she wants for the scratching.

Cats are weird. Set into their own time zone. I have two of them. Love them to the moon. But, they do strange things. Once a habit kicks in, it's hard to change it. If they get hungry, they will bug me until I wake up. Sometimes they get bord, and want to play at 3 or 4 am with me. Remember that they sleep all day. So, I cannot offer you much help my friend. Cats are their own boss. Make sure they have enough food to carry them over until you wake up. Feed them later or leave dry food out. That may help. Good luck.
