What is the use of middle name?

In our country there is no middle name so i knoe nothing about it please tell me.

you know what................i'm 49 years old and i actually have no idea why we have middle names. i've always hated mine, so when i got married and was changing my name on my social security card, my whole new name wouldn't fit, so i did away with the middle name i always hated. now, the only thing i have with that name on is my birth certificate. WHEW.....
