As per my experience Linux has now become quite user friendly since its version 7. I like working on Linux... on it's shell... its more stable than Windows!

I too believe Linux is more user friendlier now. I am using suse Linux and rarely i had to use command line. I have many times felt that if i was still using windows i would have missed many cool feature thats available in KDE desktop and did you notice that many features thats coming up in Vista is already available in KDE and Gnome?

There are many alternative free versions for most windows softwares. An article which discuss various alternatives are available at http://www.linux.ie/newusers/alternatives.php

I would have to check out new version but I know though linux is more stable but Its so much command based that its hard for normal users but good for programmers though.

Now i think Linux is not that much user friendly as that of windows...Linux is needed to be more user friendly than the previous versions.... Now i prefer windows as the best operating system...

Linux to me is as straightforward and user-friendly as any operating system can get. I use the lastest version of ArchLinux ( http://archlinux.org/ ), which is optimized for i686 (fasttt!), and I love it.

Linux is definitely user friendly but the thing is that it is not as friendly as Windows. So someone when switches from Windows to Linux,he found it to be a bit difficult.

Hi techieanuj. I have never used Linux on my own computer. But I have been told that with Linux your computer is safer than when you use windows and also it has more free add-ons. So I was considering to switch to that and I asked a friend of mine who has it on her computer to show me. Well if you want my honest opinion I didn't find it user friendly at all and I prefer Windows. I would love to use Linux because of all the advantages it has over windows but I think it is a little complicated to me.
