Curly Hair - What To Do?

Ok, well I have curly hair. I've been trying to figure out ways to style it, but it's so curly, it can never stay the same. Like in the morning, I gel my hair so that it's sorta like a faux-hawk (not sure how to spell it), then 3 hours later, all the hair I gelled started curling upwards, shaping my head like an onion. So I tried just letting it curl down, and it worked -- for a little. As soon as my hair grew longer (it was pretty logn to start with), it stared curling inwards, toward the center of my forehead. I ave up, and cut my hair short, but the thing is. It's starting to curl again. My curly hair is genetic. My dad, my uncle, and 2 of my cousins (all on my dad's side) had curly hair. What they did was just shave it all off and keep it that way -- they got tired of figuring how to deal with it. I don't want to shave myhead liek they did (because I look UGLY with a shaved heaD), but I don't want to let it grow out too much. Can anyone give me suggestions on what to do?

I have natural curls too. I do hair rebonding which is available in any upmarket salon here. It will make your hair manageable and tidy. It's very effective and can last for 6 months or until your new hair grows long enough to give you problem again. I don't even have to comb it when I wake up after rebonding it. Check it out with your hairdresser.

My friend's son is 13, has really really tight curly hair as well. He uses a straightener on it every few weeks. You can buy them at the store, or see a stylist/hair salon, but that'll cost a bit more.

Forgot to add, these will dry your hair out as well, need to make sure you get a good conditioner to help combat that!!

my son has the same problem , i normally give hime a 1/4 in shave in the back and then shave the top part of his head ( me behind hime shaveing forwards ) 1/2 inch this way it thins out his hair and keeps the curls under control ;) he also uses gell , but mouse works best oh humid days ~M~
