DOES IT REALLY MATTER?????? What freaking idiots!!! The point is that the baby slept RIGHT next to you, and had it's toes chewed off while I'm sure the baby was screaming at the top of it's poor little lungs while you just slept away (probably because you were drunk or high off something). Does it really matter what freaking animal did it?????? This has just got me so fired up!!! Let's let a freaking rat chew off your toes B*tch and see how you like it, and whether or not you cared what kind of animal did it. GOD people are STUPID!!! I hope these people never get to lay eyes on that poor baby again!!! Am I wrong? Do you think that this should make any difference in their punishment?

No it shouldnt make a difference. That baby should of been in bed with them or in a baby bed not on the floor in its car seat. They had to hear the baby crying .They deserve what they get for not taking care of that little one and keeping it out of danger.

Inmates cannot stand people that do bad things to children....I say put them in general population in the prisons and they will eventually get theirs ~ most child offenders do inside the walls...

No not at all! Your absolutely correct. At a month old what the heck were they doing leaving that baby on the floor with a puppy ( or a ferret) in the house? It doesn't make a difference what did it ~ that fact is that it happened and both parents were so out of it that they didn't hear their poor lil babe wailing right next to them! They should be punished accordingly...to the full extent of the law in my eyes.

I don't know much about this story but I cannot see how anyone could sleep through that, a baby in pain really screams worse than anything, it's impossible to sleep through. Never mind the fact that animals shouldnt be let loose around a home with a defenceless baby around, it's just not safe. The whole story is dodgy and the parents are most definitely at fault regardless of what animal did the damage. They should be punished and I hope the poor child is going to be taken care of by loving and responsible people for a change. I can't imagine how this kind of thing could happen.

Omg this is horrible.. Its true they shouldn't be able to see their baby anymore..They had to be doing something to be completely out of it to not hear the baby get its poor baby toes chewed off.. Are they saying that the baby didn't cry or do anything just lay there.. What idiots.. I think they should throw them in a room and let the same thing happen to them.. see how they like.. What idiots..And it really doesn't matter what kind of animal did it, it was done thats all that mattered....Poor little baby, so innocent and precious to have something so horrible happen to...

This is sad, yet ridiculous. How did it occur again. I'm sorry but I couldn't help laughing once I rea dthe title. I guess I have a dark sense of humor. This is unfortunate, the parents are irresponsible.

Where is this news article at. I know I heard about the puppy doing it, kind of makes you wonder if an animal really did do it and the parents didn't have something to do with it. I just don't see how they could sleep through that.

You can post the article as long as you post the website too. Otherwise it is like strealing copywrited material. Thanks for the update though.

If she was sleeping, it could have been a chipmunk that ate the baby's toes for all she knows. What idiots!!!

The baby should still never be allowed near them again, now come they suddenly decide it was a ferret? I just hope it's not too late for the puppy! Some people are not fit to be around children orpets and these two have proved they fit into this category perfectly. I think they should be punished severely - I would like their toes chewed off too, followed by a few fingers for good luck, people as shallow as this need to realised the results of their actions. It makes me sick!

I think these parent are crazy. How did they not wake up.The baby had to have cried. How where they so out of it that they did not know this was happening. The animal that did this does not matter it should have never happened.

What happened to the puppy then? Did they end up putting him to sleep before they found out it wasnt him that did it?? ...I dont think this should make any kind of difference in the parents' punishment though!

I would be really sickened if they put a puppy to sleep for this. I realize that it's extremely upsetting what happened to the baby. It's awful! But this is a one month old puppy we're talking about as well. I saw a picture of him on the news, and there is no way this puppy (if it is responsible for what happened) knew it was causing serious injury to a person. I would be outraged if it was put down for that. It was probably trying to suckle, and a baby's toes really are about the same size and shape as a mother dog's teats. It could have been hungry and looking for food.

My kids roll over and I sit straight up in bed, no baby monitors needed. I don't see how someone could sleep through that.

omg I don't understand how something like this could happen. How did this babies mama not hear her crying and help her. No it doesn't matter if it was a pit bull or a ferret either way the end result is the same. GRRR!

OMG, don't even get me started on this. This makes me sooooo mad. They do not need that baby back if they can't pay more attention to it than that. I have a 7 month old and he bumped his head on the changing table one day and screamed so I know if this ferret chewed that baby's toes off then that baby would be screaming and not just crying a little bit. I hate people like that and they shouldn't be allowed to have any more kids. I love my child so much I never want anything bad to happen to him and I don't see how some people can just not care about their child.

OMG ALRIGHT !!! I haven't heard this story before now.. I cant believe what your telling me... If my kids just fall over the whole street knows about it.. Imagine how loud a baby would be if it was in pain.. Getting your toes chewed off would be soooooo painful there is no way in the world that baby wouldn't have made any noise.. what the hell was any animal of any kind doing near the baby in the first place... who the hell has animals in their home that can chew your bloody toes off!!!.. omg this so makes me sick the more and more I think about.. They must have been on something for this to happen its just not possible that someone would sleep through that.. maybe the parents were not even home that's why they didn't hear anything.. I dont care where or what the hell they were doing they do not deserve that baby and they should both do time in jail and never have the right to that baby or conceive another baby again..

I know how come someone can be so stupid that they cannot hear a baby crying I mean a mom can hear her baby squeal even its slightest faint and here they let a pitbull eat its toes Well the biggest punishment for the babies parents is to let this happen!

OMG!!! Are you serious?! Where and when did this happen? What would provoke any animal to suddenly chew off a baby's toes?? I've had ferrets and never seen them act like that. What is that poor baby going to think when it gets older and wonders what happened? That is sick. I hope these people go to prison and never be allowed to have any more kids or see their baby again!

It sounds more like she is trying to save the puppy from being put down. How can she tell what animal did it unless she saw it happen? And if she saw it happen - why didn't she save her baby from being attcked? It doesn't matter what animal it was bottom line is THAT BABY LOST IT'S TOES BECAUSE OF BAD PARENTS!!!!!!!!! And as a mother of two I can say I would never let a rodent play with MY children, they carry disease & who knows what else. I have friends who do have rodent pets, but they are civilized & keep them in cages, AWAY FROM SMALL CHILDREN. I hope these people go to prison 'cuz the inmates have nothing to lose by making them suffer for what they did & the guards will just look the other way. I do think that the animal who attacked the baby should be put down only because those who have tasted blood are more likely to attack again. And forensic evidence can clearly determine which animal did it.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many stupid people there are in this world. I think that there should be some kind of screening process for new parents to determine if they are ready and have the mentality for the job. It would be nice if they got what they deserved but what about the baby? Why must the baby suffer in order for them to reap what they sow? My prayers are with the baby and hope he is taken to a much better deserving family.

I hate when people have kids and dont take care of them!!!!! I swear some people should be required to see a shrink BEFORE they have kids! The type of animal that bit off that poor baby's toes does NOT matter. The fact that its little toes were bitten off in the first place is all that matters! How can you ignore a baby crying like that, even IF they were high or drunk??????????
