What do you think on pollution? Is it really bother you. The major form of Pollution is AIR pollution. It is caused by the release of particles into the air from burning fuel for energy. The exhaust from burning fuels in automobiles, homes, and industries is a major source of pollution in the air. Another type of pollution is the release of noxious gases, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and chemical vapors.. Pollutants can cause disease, including cancer, lupus, immune diseases, allergies, and asthma. Higher levels of background radiation have led to an increased incidence of cancer and mortality associated with it worldwide.

Air pollution - Air pollution created by the factories...by the emission of smoke...
Pollution means an undesirable changes in the environment. Yes..all kind of pollution such as air, water, noise and so on causes serious harmfull effect to the environment. Air pollution causes very serious harmfull effect. Pollution is the release of environmental contaminants. The major forms of pollution include: air pollution, the release of chemicals and particulates into the atmosphere. Common examples include carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and nitrogen oxides produced by industry and motor vehicles. Ozone and smog are created as nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons react to sunlight. Motor vehicle emissions are likely the leading cause of air pollution. The U.S., Russia, Mexico, China and Japan are the world leaders in air pollution emissions; however, Canada is the number two country, ranked per capita. The EU has adopted stringent emissions controls. Principal stationary pollution sources include chemical plants, coal-fired power plants, oil refineries, nuclear waste disposal activity, incinerators, large animal farms, PVC factories, metals production factories, plastics factories, and other heavy industry. Some of the more common soil contaminants are chlorinated hydrocarbons (CFH), heavy metals (such as chromium, cadmium--found in rechargeable batteries, and lead--found in lead paint, aviation fuel and still in some countries, gasoline), MTBE, zinc, arsenic and benzene.Pollution can also be the consequence of a natural disaster. For example hurricanes often involve water contamination from sewage, and petrochemical spills from ruptured boats or automobiles. Larger scale and environmental damage is not uncommon when coastal oil rigs or refineries are involved. Some sources of pollution, such as nuclear power plants or oil tankers, can produce widespread and potentially hazardous releases when accidents occur. In the case of noise pollution the dominant source class is the motor vehicle, producing about ninety percent of all unwanted noise worldwide.

Pollution is caused by undesirable changes in the environment which is man made. Pollution occurs through air, water, land, soil, noise pollution, radioactive pollutants. pollution takes place everywhere in the world. and the problem has grown manifold for sometime now. Both in developed and developing world pollution is a major problem. The air pollution has caused global warming, hole in the ozone layer and led to changes in climatic conditions adversely affecting growth of crops and plants. Air pollution in cities is cuased mostly by vehicular traffic and factories which emits pollutants that affecvts one's health and causes dieases like cancer, allergies ,asthma and breathing disorders and respiratory problems, causing both long aterm and short terms ill affects. Then their is chemicals in vegetables and fruits, chemicals in water which affects one health badly. I think we should use renewable sources of energy like wind power, solar energy , tidal power, water harvesting, to provide us clean, clear, pollutants free, energy which is not toxic and is environment friendly. I think we should use CNG buses and vehicles, use stringent emission control norms, create mass awareness against ill effects of pollution and use environmental friendly technologies to reduce pollution.

Pollution of all types r bad..I live in a city whose pollutuion level is high. The air we breathe is also polluted..all sorts of pollution around u noise pollution, water pollution...its difficult to find a pollution free society. We ourself r responsible for this..its high time we understand that and try to control ourself from spreading pollution.

bothered? not really but concerned yes. i'm aware that a lot of us is just taking pollution for granted. but me, i'm just doing my best to help out by minimixing the polution that i contribute to the environment.

Pollution is an environmental changes making air becomes polluted because of the gases hazardous to human lives. It caused unhealthy living because we breathe polluted air while our body needs unpolluted and fresh air.

It's sound pollution for me. I need some peace and quiet for me to sleep but unfortunately some people never understand that.

water_pollution - water_pollution
I guess ya true that air pollution has the most visible effects over our lives..But i dnt agree that its the bggest problem. If we really see.Air pollution causes brethe problems.we inhale it.But we can save ourselves atleast by wearing masks n all. What about water pollution. That bad water we drink we dont even knw wat alll bacterias it contains. So bad it is to be in the water caused infections. I really believe that all pollutions are hazardous and truly we are the one amongst those responsible for causing it.We shall take care of it b4 its too late.... I really wish we can have a pollution free atmosphere....

Soil contamination occurs when chemicals are released by spill or underground storage tank leakage. Among the most significant soil contaminants are hydrocarbons, heavy metals, MTBE, herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated hydrocarbons. radioactive contamination, added in the wake of 20th-century discoveries in atomic physics. (See alpha emitters and actinides in the environment.) noise pollution, which encompasses roadway noise, aircraft noise, industrial noise as well as high-intensity sonar. light pollution, includes light trespass, over-illumination and astronomical interference. visual pollution, which can refer to the presence of overhead power lines, motorway billboards, scarred landforms (as from strip mining), open storage of junk or municipal solid waste.

pollution - air pollution
nice...i would like to highlight on some controversy about pollution.... Industry and concerned citizens have battled for decades over the significance of various forms of pollution. Salient Carbon dioxide, while vital for photosynthesis, is sometimes referred to as pollution, because raised levels of the gas in the atmosphere affect the Earth's climate. See global warming for an extensive discussion of this topic. Disruption of the environment can also highlight the connection between areas of pollution that would normally be classified separately, such as those of water and air. Recent studies have investigated the potential for long-term rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide to cause slight but critical increases in the acidity of ocean waters, and the possible effects of this on marine ecosystems.

I have asthma, and air pollution is a major issue for me. Every summer I go through days where I can't breath at all because of the smog. It's brutal. It's also completely unnecessary. We have the resources to get everybody out of their cars and into mass transit, we just lack the political will. It drives me bananas.

Poluttion is really bad for our health. Usually pollution happen is big city. The air has polluted with cars, industries, etc. But, very different in a village. The air really clean.

The biggest air pollution causes by the USA in the world. Usa do not sign the agreement in kioto about reducing the air pollution. Today it was 20celsius degree in Washington!! And USA still do not want to reduce it's own pollution!!

The air here in Singapore is generally at a 'healthy' level except on occasions when we are affected by forest fire from our neighbour, Indonesia. It happened again 2 months ago and many of us suffered from respiratory related sickness due to the smoke that drifted over. There were many fire spots in Indonesia then and they were deliberately started by farmers to claim the land. I hope the farmers will be educated on this issue of pollution and their negative effects.

Pollution is a major problem in my country India these days. It can lead to harmful diseases. But in my city New Delhi, the CNG buses have been a relief. The pollution is less than what it used to be earlier.

I think pollution will be handled someday. first, more and more people aware of this problem than before. The newpapers, TV shows, reports, etc... all these remind us of the seriousness of pollution. Second, as the technology and science develop day by day, our measure to get rid of pollution will become more, too. maybe someday we can develop a new type of “cleaser" which can clean the air. It seems funny right now, but it's possible in the future. Hence, we don't need to worry too much. We just have to do our part in protecting our environment.
