why did eve eat the forbidden fruit?

eve referred to her husband who said that "god said that you must eat ... you must not even look upon it ...will die". They did not die in the literal 24 hr. day. this was a test from GOD on their obeidiance of him. they did however die within the creative day of their existance in order for them to bear children.
