I was deep asleep one night when I woke up to a loud knocking at my door. I thought to myself, what the..., it was 3:00 in the morning! I peered out my window and saw 2 cops outside my apartment door. I figured I better open up the door and find out what's going on, right. They told me they received a complaint that it sounded like a woman was getting beat up in my apartment or one nearby. I assured them it wasn't me. They kept shining the flashlight on me and all over the apartment and asked if they could come in and look around. I said sure. One of them searched my small one bedroom apartment, while the other one kept asking if I was ok, if I was crying, had any bruises, all the time shining his flashlight up and down my body. I assured them I was fine and I hadn't heard anything. They left after they were finally reassured. Needless to say, it took me awhile to get back to sleep that night, but I had a great story to tell at work the next day!

Yes, I had policemen at my house but not for anything like you experienced. It was around 3.00am and I heard a bang outside my house, which is a good bit back from the road. I could see flashing lights and I thought the house across the road must be on fire. I couldn't see anything from my window, as we had very tall trees all around the garden, so I woke my husband and sent him to investigate. It happened that the police were giving chase to the occupants of a stolen car and the chase ended at my house. The stolen car went into the ditch on the far side of the road, but unfortunately the one of the police cars had crashed through our front garden fence. Fortunately it just missed the concrete post or I dread to think of the consequences. The flashing lights were those of about four police cars. After a few of the police had finished beating the offenders to a pulp, I invited them in for some tea.

Oh this almost exact thing happened to me about 4 years ago. My then boyfriend answered the door. We had been sound asleep as well, so neither of us was very awake. They had had a complaint of some woman screaming for help, etc. They did the exact same thing with the flashlight, then asked to see me. I wasnt wearing anything, so I wrapped a sheet around me and went down the hall to the door. The expression on their faces was priceless haha They apologized for their mistake and left.

I have law enforcement at my house all the time...morning noon and night. I happened to be married to him and his friends are always here. I would be glad they check things out and not just blow things off. If you live in an apartment the caller very well may have just pegged the wrong apartment.

Shortly after we moved in to our house we had the cops at our door looking for the people who lived here before us. They had written bad checks all over town. It was crazy they pulled into my driveway in the afternoon. Freaked me out a bit.

I don't remember any cops actually ever being inside the house, but there was this one time when I was 5 years old that a bunch of cops came pounding on the door. I don't remember how many were there, but I think there were about 5 cops standing at the door. Anyway, turns out some moron dialed 911 a bunch of times. Hey, I was 5 years old and curious!! I had apparently just learned about 911 that day and I guess I thought it'd be fun to call and hang up. LOL I ran and hid when I saw those cops standing there cuz I knew I was in trouble!

I was scared of getting in trouble more than anything! LOL I don't think I really got punished for it, either. I'm sure I got yelled at, though. I don't really remember.

I think its good they done that. I had to call it on one of my neighbors as her husband was beating the living Cr@p out of her for all to hear and see. She in turn rebuttled on me. But knowing i kept her from being killed that night to me is what matters.

BUT that is not the reason we called. we called because we caught that SAME friend peeking into our bedroom window on several oocasions

Your story is prety cool but I could tell you something more.I am student in Romania and I'm living in a campus. The police is making one or two checking rides by year in the campus to discover the illegal residents. They made this in the night knowing that is not permited by the constitution of Romania but this is during from many many years.

Wow, that is a weird thing to have happened! I would have been a bit freaked out for sure! Do you think it coudl have been in another apartment or do you think one of your neighbors was just being obnoxious? The only reason I ever had the police come to my house is when I called in a complaint because someone had vandalized our mailbox. It wasn't a huge deal and there was nothing the police could even do about it other than take a report.

They've only come to my house when I have had to call them, a man chased me home from the bus stop one night, screaming obscenities, so i called them, but he wasn't found, and I heard a gunshot one night from a neighbours house and saw a man running away at full speed in the middle of the night, he ran right by my bedroom window, so i called, and everything checked out ok.

That's a little creepy actually!!!! I have had the cops at my house. Once I had a stranger call and make threatening comments, which I laughed at because I figured he was just some crazy person.. then he informed me exactly where I lived and would be there to kill me. I was alone with 3 kids and knew there was no way I was gonna deal with this. The cops came, checked out the house, told me that with the 2 dogs I had they were sure I was pretty safe and they would put tracers on the phone. They also cased the house all night and the entire next week just to be safe.

Wow, that's really scary! The cops did a pretty good job of helping you out, putting the tracer on your phone watching your house. I assume the person quit calling or was caught?

I had police come to my old apartment all teh time with a warrant looking for the person who lived there previously. It got to be very annoying. It got to the point where i would just open the door for them and tell them to come in and look around because that person hasn't live ther for over 3 years. I fianlly moved.

Yes, some policeman have been into my home inquiring about me and then they even call me to the police station for verification. At one time they were about to inquire about me and my address proof and this was the case for passport verification and at one time there had been an incident of small accident due to which police personnel had to be in my home for some sort of invertigation but that too at day time only. Atleast i take a nice sleep at night.

Sadly, yes they have been to my house. I recently had an issue with a stalker. I had to call the police and they came out. Unfortunately, if I file a police report, then the guy gets all my personal info because the report lists all of that and it is a matter of public record. So, the officer came and then left. Even though I hadn't done anything wrong, I was embarrassed that they came to my house. I felt like a criminal!

That is sad, I had no idea about this. I would feel the same way you did. Although I'm sure the stalker could find out a lot of info. on you if he wanted to. I would probably gat an alarm system for my home and be aware odf my surroundings wherever I went.

I've had them come to my door for noise complaints, and to my friend's door several times for noise complaints. What's funny is, I never call on others, but people LOVE to call on me whenever something minute is going on. I have never really dealt with too many issues though, they usually just ask us to keep it down. They did, however inform me that if we refuse to answer the door they can get a warrant and forcibly enter. So word to the wise: Whenever a cop comes knocking, ANSWER!
