Children and Respect

I've often heard these days about children being disrespectful to their parents, and along with it how lienient parents are with punishment. Personally, I think parents shouldn't abuse their children, but a spanking isn't going to traumatize a child (I was spanked, I turned out fine!) What do you guys think?

I feel it all depends on ur background..i mean to what type of family u belong. In the indian society most of the family is orthodox..they wish to have complete control on their child. But now things are changing parents have a friendly attitude towards their children..and this is quiet positive.Where there is love...respect will automatically follow.

Yes, I agree that parents coming to understand their children better is great. Still, children need to be taught right and wrong, and punishment is the best way to do that.

Well if you nurture kids with love and care, they would never disrespect you. You yourself sometimes have to become a kid to make children learn.

If you spoil children, though, you're doing more harm than good.
