How do you make a dog more obedient

In making a dog more obedient, one has to take care of the following:- (1) One should always read the psychology of the dog and accordingly take the decision. (2)Always play with the dog two times a day and one has to continue playing till dog gets tired. (3)One should feed the dog with his own hand. (4) Do not pick up anything which is lying in front of the dog. (5)Get walked at least once in a day alongwith dog. (6)Praise Dog whenever Dog has barked at somebody. (7)Do not leave the dog alone for a longer period. If somebody is having some more secrets about the same let us share for the benefit of all......

I play with my dog one time a day. I feed them every day I pick it by trying something else to get them away so i grab the front thing. If you blame the dog while they are barking, they will get more angrier, I agree. How long should we leave a lone?I wonder.

I disagree with these: (4) Do not pick up anything which is lying in front of the dog. Why not? If you don't, it will make the dog more aggressive. You need to teach the dog that yes it is his bone, but YOU'RE the one who gave it to him so he needs to respect you. (6)Praise Dog whenever Dog has barked at somebody. I disgree with this as well. If a dog barks at someone, it shouldn't always be praised. A dog can turn really nasty very easily that way, and that's not something that you want for your visitors. (7)Do not leave the dog alone for a longer period. I don't see why? If you leave him alone for longer, it teaches them a) if they're good and don't chew anything they'll get a treat when you get home and b) helps them be housebroken in. If you work from 9-5 most dogs can hold their bladder but if you're not leaving them alone, they'll never quite learn to hold it and will end up peeing everywhere when you DO go away for awhile.

i disagree with some as well, if my dog has something he shouldn't like my kids toys then i grab it and tell him no, and my dog barks at strangers but one's we know, it's embarrasing when he starts barking like crazy at them! and i leave my dog sometimes, because he got too used to going places with me, that when i had to leave him, he messed up the house and was going crazy! now i try to get him used to being home alone!

I dis agree with 4 also you are to be the pack or alpha dog in the house you should be able to take ANY THING from the dog including it's food . 6. you well get a dog that barks at everything dogs bark at inturders by instint not by training instead teach the dog a cut off signal to stop barking when all is clear .

Lovely advice my friend. Just mention never ever to hurt or hit the dog. If it must be hit, use a paper so it will not hurt, but make a noise.

some more ways to make dogs obedient: 1) we need to give the food which contains no salt. 2) immedialtely feed the dogs when they are hungry then they will have more obedient to the owner 3)once we help the dogs they never forget that and they will be with us in all the best and worst cases also. dogs are that much obedient.

How do you tell a dog that's hungry? Dogs will take any kind of food at any time (if we allow them too) Setting strict meal times rather than having the food always there will breed more obedience and disacipline.

You make your dog more obedient by treating them as your friend.. don't let them get hungry, always feed them at the right time.. wash them every week.. play with them.

I fully agree with you.One must firt gain the confidence of the dog then dog becomes very obedient and follows what you say.One must not hurt the dog or harrase him then dogs also behave good. Also one must talk with then and play with then and make them friendly. Also never throw any think on them, otherwise they loose confidence in you. Also as truely said never leave dogs in closed room for long time, it has bad effect on dogs. One should have control on dogs but not always threaten him.

A hungry dog (actually, when aren't they hungry....lol) is an obediant dog. We brought our Sheltie to agility classes this past year and they highly recommended the use of small treats to help woth the process.

Dogs can be trained as we want them to behave....scold them whenever they are wrong and teach them what they should be doing....They are pretty intelligent animals and they very well understand how they can make you happy and sad....Train them as your kids
