Dog with Seizures

My brothers dog has seizures quite often. He doesn't take her to the vet because he doesn't have any money. I would do it myself, but I don't live near him and I don't have the money either, because they would involve shots, exam fees, getting her spayed and then seizure meds. Is there any remedies you know about? Is there something herbal that is safe for dogs? I thought this would be a good discussion because I have had so many opinions from my peers and co-workers about this situation. Any thoughts?
