If you stay at home a lot and play high end games that require high memory and killer graphics then you should get the desktop. Desktops can easily be upgraded with new parts and accessories. If you are the type that goes out more and needs to have a computer anytime you need it, then you should get a laptop. Laptops cannot be easily upgraded with new parts (or even not at all) but laptops these days can rival the processing power of the average desktops - sometimes they are even faster. They each have their own pros and cons, you just have to figure out for yourself what you really need. Desktop = customizability Laptop = portability

It depends on what you want to do with that computer. If you need it at school and everywhere you go.. you buy an laptop.. but if you need it at home for family use try to buy a desktop computer because is more useful.. and more cheap, refering to components for upgrade and more like this.. Usually laptops are used for documents not for games. If you need it for Games try to use a desktop with a CRT monitor, because it gives the best performance. Laptops are for documents and business presentations or navigation.

It really depends how you would use the computer. Do you require portability? If so choose a laptop. Do you require performance without having to spend too much money? Than a PC is your best bet. Of course if you had plenty of green backs, then just get a high performance, ultra portable laptop.
