I know that many discussions on mylot are onliners, with simple yes no answers and a lot of it can be called spam. But on the other end of the spectrum are the dicussions that are extremely bizzare, and filmy. Are people lying on Mylot to get people to reply or are these things happening to people and people are comfortable posting such things?

There are at least a few people who are clearly lying. There was someone who started a discussion the other day that claimed they were one gender, their provile and earlier posts showed messages claiming the other. They are hoping that no one realizes and doesn't report them. Some of the bizzare stuff might be real. The internet affords us all a level of anonymity (or at least assumed anonymity). Some people see that and run with it... Pouring out all their darkest and dirty details. It happens on blogs too. It helps readership, but then causes all sorts of havoc once one of your real life friends stumbles upon your not so secret dirty little secrets.

Yes, I agree with you! Sometimes we do feel safe sitting behind a computer screen, thinking no one will ever find out, but sooner or later it does get out and then we are in deep trouble.

I think some of the stuff, not all, but a small minority of disucssions are made up. Some of them are so, well, bizarre, like you said. I think people just come up with weird, and sometimes interesting things, in order to get more responses. Then again, at least they are using their brains to get some money. It is much better than disucssions like 'What is your favourite colour?' etc.

I would agree! Atleast they are being creative and providing people with something to dicsuss about , other than just type a yes or a no and press the post discussion or post response button!

I too, wondered why they would post such topics. I hope these things aren't happenig to them. Either way it is bad. There really is no way of knowing unless we catch them in a lie or something.

I hope too that such things are not happening to anyone and it is really hard to know if someone is lying or not, specially online.

I think people are comfortable posting suh things. Also many things that are happenin here are not discussions . They are opinions. I do not know how mylot is treating them. For example, this one is a discussion.. But there are so called discussions like which do you like, red or blue? You cannot call it a discussion as you cannot answer it in more than one word ha ha!

Thanks for considering this a discussion and I intended for it to be one. I dont get how people can be comfortable talking about their personla stuff, but everyone is different. And I agree there are questions that pose as discussions and cant be replied in anything more than ye sor no. sometimes they get the most resonses because answering to them takes the least time.
