Due to the essence of thought being based on memory, can thinking ever be new?

Is it only the associations rather than the actual thought our brains experience that is new? Do your thoughts attempt to comprehend these associations based on conditioning? Due to this, is it possible that you may not be seeing things as they really are? Would you care to be without having your perception function according to preconceived notions or habit.....the old? How aware of the process of thought will you permit yourself to become? Will/do you care to really understand yourself, accept constant, absolute truth, the new, to set you free.. Do you think it possible resolve thoughts prior to their occurance in order to prevent them?
