What does God mean?

Tomorrow is Chritmas day---the birth day of Jesus Christ---son of God. I'm an atheist, but I wonder why do so many people believe in God. Does He give us a peaceful mind?

I think it mean luck.when people do their best on something,they hope there is a mystery strength helping them.they beileve in luck. this is only my opinion.

god is the hope for human being.Its the power of hope which keeps us trying to achieve our goal.Peaceful mind is the responsibility of society.everythingcant b gifted sometimes u have to earn them.
