I have a friend who is very sensitive to others' need, his boss trusts him very much, and they get along well. so he always get reward from his boss for his doing, such as to be a high ranking leader. We all think he has high EQ. Another friend ever received higher education than the first one, he can do some professional job, with high IQ, he seldom consider things outside his profession, such as giving advice to his boss in management. Even though he do a lot in his career, he doesn't know how to express them to the boss. So what he's done isn't rewarded fairly, he think. What's your opinion about that? Does it really mean EQ is more important than IQ?

Some social scientists argue that a high EQ stands for a person's ability to survive. They suggest a link between EQ, IQ, genetics and the environment. It is also worth remembering that having a high IQ will help us in some ways, but having a high EQ might help us even more.People often make the mistake of thinking that EQ is the same as IQ.It is not.I think success comes with a high EQ.

I think EQ is more important in my career. The EQ tell you how well you use your smartness.LOw EQ people are worried about problems, people with high EQs often have positive attitudes towards life. When i was a student,i was a good student at studying, but when i came to work i wasn't successful, because i can't understand other's need.I hope i have both high EQs and IQs!

Of course both are improtant but i'd say that a high eq will help you communicate better with people and people will bemore comfortable around you and this is far more improtant than figuring out patterns and maths problems.

All I can say is that they are both important in our career in a way that they are complement, meaning you cannot achieve something without the earlier or vice-versa. You can't be successful if one of them is missing.

With growing impotance of communication skills in the present world, EQ is gaining more importance.Talented guys with high IQ stay hidden if they are nto good at EQ.But I think IQ is better.Because those who have a good IQ can develope their poor EQ with training. But those with poor IQ can not develope it as IQ is a inbuilt component of brain. At the best,IQ can be brought back to normal in some mentally retarded people.but it can not be improved to higher levels.

Very good comment, I will recommend it to my high IQ friend who is now in the shadow of low judgement by others. The old saying goes: live and learn. thank you.

Most people I know have gotten along better with their higher EQ. Of course, they also seem to be luckier than me, so my jealousy could be creating some bias on my part.

In my opinion IQ is more important that EQ. EQ can be improved but it's hard to do the same with the IQ level.

In my life experiencem EQ is more important than IQ coz by having good EQ you can handle your emotion very well, you can manage people although they are new people, you can communicate better with people around you,you can catch the signal changing of your work environtment than you having good IQ. Coz most of people who having good IQ prefer to work alone than people who having good EQ. But it will be good if you having both coz i believe you career will grow fast if it is so :)

Most of the time, IQ doesn't mean anything. EQ can get a person farther in the company, providing it is valuable. Just kissing up to the boss doen't always work, and can backfire. But, by being a peope person who cares about others, and can listen to be able to get what needs to be done, with results is a worthwhile attribute. And for giving proper advice, resulting in a positive outcome will also earn praise. A lot of companies are now looking for real world experiences, instead of a greater formal education when hiring for open positions in their companies.
