Do you always put your child in a car seat
September 25, 2006 5:29pm CST
I see some parents with infants and young kids riding around with them out of there car seats. do you always put yours in one and if not why not? This puts that child at risk.. My oldest is 6 and I still make her ride in the little booster seats .

Yes. All 4 of my kids are in carseats. My oldest is 6 but she only weighs 34lbs. She just moved into a booster seat last month but still uses the 5 point harness. It will be awhile before she is big enough to use the car belts with the booster. My son is 5 and has been using a booster since he was 2 1/2 and only with the carseat belt since he was 3 1/2. He weighs 45lbs, though. My younger daughter is going to be 4 next month and is still in a toddler seat. And the baby is in her infant seat. She has a little to go before she is too big for it.

My 6 year old has a booster seat in his dads car but apart from that, we don't travel by car except very occassionally my partners dads car. So I don't put my kids in booster seats or anything. If I could drive myself than my kids would have seats but as it is, we can't afford to buy carseats and I don't see why we should have to when we don't even drive. If there was a way of getting financial help towards them then I would gladly get them.

I dont have children But I do have alot of little ones in my family. I usually rent cars to see my family and I always rent at least two car seats. I tell my sisters to just buy one even if they dont drive. I dont like to see kids hanging on the doors of a car or sitting in the seet with their knees. that scares me.
