We'll probably be going into the kitchen every now and then, checking up on all the food our mother has prepared, and seeing if the 13 round fruits have been rounded up. All the while doing the preparations around the house that my mother's superstitious nature requires us to do, like turning all the lights in the house, putting pennies on the windowsills. Blowing that horn as loud as we can when the clock strikes 12!

WOW!! I thought that New Years is a vacation time hudled in with Christams, yet it sounds like you work real hard on New Years eve. I wish you the best of luck with all of your mother's superstitions, hopefully all will go well and no black cat crosses your path or mirror breaks. Have a very Wonderful New Year with many many more to come!!!

What are the superstitions? Why put pennies on the windowsills and turn on all the lights? And here I thought blowing that loud horn on New Year's was just a celebration. Is there a significance to blowing the horn at midnight?

I will be doing the same with my husband. It isn't really a good night to drive, as so many people drink. So, enjoy your lovely family, be safe, and wishing you a very happy and better New Years.

I so fully agree with you. The funny thing is that when I was younger I was right out there with all of them partiers, yet now that I am older I have no desire to party anymore. I guess wisdom comes with age, atleast in my case. Thank you for the post and have a wonderful new year!!

Well I feel as you do. I guess we do get wiser as we get older. But, too bad we cannot stay the same way physically as when we are younger. :) Thank you for the rating, bless you, and happy New Years.

Growing old gracefully, the preverbial fountain of youth. I have gotten really lucky with my genes I guess. I am 34 and I still get my id checked all of the time, but I know it will not last. My age will start catching up to mee before too long. Thank you once again for the post, have a glorous New Year!!

I will be doing the same thing we do every new year. I sit up with the kids and watch them fall asleep one by one as if they can run with the big dogs. The older children will be awake with me watching the ball drop and the fireworks on tv. My partner will have already crashed long before the ball even bobs and I will give him a kiss in his sleep. I was never one for partying. And I enjoy my time with my children. They are my life and I want to spend as much time as possible with them. Because they will soon be off to college and making a life without me in it everyday. So, until then...I plan on spending my time with them.

What a softy you are!! Awe..... I so understand my oldest is about to become a mom so she will be leaving here soon. she is going to be a family of her own and that makes mee and mrs. mee very sad. It seems like all of our babies are growing up way to fast. this is why I spend all the time that I can with my girls, they will only be here for a few more years! Thank you for the post my friend and have a great New Year!! Make sure that you kiss your partner at the stroke of midnight!!!

sounds like a good idea with all of the drinking and driving out there I do not like to go out on heavy party nights like this, atleast not with my family. Thank you for the post and have a wonderful new year!!

I will have my daughter, sons and grandchildren for dinner. A couple of my friends will probably drop in after that for drinks. We will most likely play a few games with the children until a few minutes before midnight. When the countdown to the new year begins, we will all go out into our front garden and pop open some champagne and invite some of the neighbours to join us. Then we will give our drunken rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Hopefully it won't be raining.

sounds like a lot of fun. Sometimes I miss my days of drinking, but only at times. I wish you the best of luck and all the happiness on this new years, who knows maybe that drunken Auld Lang Syne will be your American Idol audition. Have fun and be safe. Happy new year!
