My grandchildren came to stay with us for a few days over christmas. When their parents picked them up from the airport tonight my grand daughters luggage was missing. She is so upset as all the christmas presents we and other family gave her as well as her new clothes for her holiday and the presents she had bought for her parents with her own money were all in the missing luggage. My grandson's bags arrived ok.They were told that her bags would be on the next flight so they waited 1 1/2 hours but it didn't arrive, then they were told it was on the next flight in 2 hours but they decided not to wait as they had over and hours drive home ,lucky they didn't wait as it wasn't on that flight . They have been told that it should arrive tomorrow and if it does it will be delivered to their home. My grand daughter is so upset she is only 10 years old so as you can imagine she is worried about all her things. I have had my luggage go missing once and it was found 2 days later so i am hoping they will find hers. Have you ever had your luggage lost while travelling?

I worked for a while in the hospitality field, and at least once a month we received a late evening delivery of luggage that didn't arrive at the airport when our guest did. Sometimes it arrived even later and for some this presented a huge problem, because they only had the outfit they had traveled in, and some were scheduled to attend meetings and conferences the following day. This happened countless times, but in each case that I observed their luggage was eventually returned.I hope your granddaughter receives her things soon...Good Luck...SS

I have not had this problem as of yet but I know that my parents did have this problem and they got their luggage later that evening as it came on the next flight and the airline actually had it delivered to their home so they were fortunate not to have to wait around at the airport for it. I would be worried and stressed to if this happened to me. I am sorry that grandchildren and your family had to go through this ordeal.

It is very hard to try and carry all your special items in your hand luggage especially now when they limit the amount you can carry with you in your hand luggage

luggage - luggage
my friend had the same experience like yours.that time she was coming back from her vacation from hongkong and cina.when she finally arrived at the airport in our country she couldnt find her luggage, and thre were 2 luggage that were missing.the officer said it might be still on the previous airplane in hongkong where they transit and change plane.so after she call this and there and waited for 2mth the luggage found.but you know what happened when she opened her luggage to check? all of the new clothes she bought that still has label tag are all gone, along with the snack she bought from hongkong.everything gone except her old clothes and other old stuff she brought from her home.its so up sading but the officer said they didnt know about that and they cant search. i hope there's nothing missing in ur daughter luggage, and hope they find it soon

Just a couple of days back our friends came from Canada, and they lost all their luggage and they were coming down to celebrate their first christmas after marraige, it was sad to see them go shopping the very first day of their arrival as they did not have a single clothe to wear, they were told the same thing that they wil get it in the next flight

I dont think that there is some problem in airline or airline theft. Your grandchild may be careless. Or the luggage may be misplaced. We should be very couscous regarding this matter

I really think that you do not know much about airlines or how they work many things are stolen from luggage and whole baggage goes missing often believe me i know as i said my husband worked at the Airport for over 25 years .I did not say it was stolen only missing so it could have been laoded onto a plane going to another destination and may be found soon.My grand daughter or anyone travelling has no control over what happens to their luggage once the airline takes it , you can be as careful as possible but it is out of our hands . Her luggage was handed to the airline workers at chech in but when she arrived it was not there what could she do ?

i think thats utter irresponsiblity and customer concern by that particular airline. You should take action and go ahead and justs sue them becouse you have a reason and as you said both of them came from the same flight then how can one will get and onother will not.

I really don't know how they were seperated but unfortuneatly it is not unusual for luggage to go missing on flights just workers error and as upsetting as it is we all make mistakes. I just hope it was put on the wrong flight by mistake and not stolen or lost. They have to wait 7 days before it can be reported lost and then fill out paperwork to claim back but i don't think that they pay the full amount of your belonings

Once I got on a bus, but it started to overfill, so they made some of us get on to another bus. I saw my luggage being loaded up, and my meek protests were ignored. My luggage caught up to me almost a week later. I really hated not having clean clothes for a week, I'll tell you that.

Very sorrowful news, little girl had many things of her for christmas and it lost at this time very shock. I do not loose luggage but my friends on way to Mayanmar lost his luggage at Dhaka Airport then I took much pain to relocate it and redirected to Mayanmar Airport after a week. Lost luggage hardly missing for ever, it can get but time need to search it.

This is really terrible rosebug and so sad for your poor granddaughter who was no doubt very distraught by all of it. Our son's luggage was temporarily lost when he was coming home. He checked it in at Vancouver and it was okay at LA, then he went on to Hawaii, but somehow his luggage didn't. It did eventually arrive for which we were all thankful because he had some things in it although his important papers etc were in his carry on luggage. However it took 2 days to arrive by which time he said his clothes smelled something awful, so he threw them out. :)

That was really terrible to think that all his clothes had to be dicarded . We are a worried about a top of my grand daughters that was still damp so i put it in a plastic bag ,i am sure that will have to be thrown out if she ever gets her luggage

While I haven't had luggage lost, two times while traveling back and forth from Japan to the United States it was left at the airport for one reason or another. Nothing sucks more than not having luggage for 24+ hours in a foreign country. It was always going from the US to Japan and never the opposite. Japanese folks are very kind and thorough. I once had a part time job as a baggage handler for United Airlines while I worked full-time as an FAA air traffic controller. I love aviation and I took the PT job right after the FAA cut off the controllers from free flights, so instead United gave them to me as an employee. Anyhoo, you don't exactly need a degree to work as a baggage handler. There is a background check but most of these people could really care less about getting bags to the right domestic conveyor belt or the international belt/aircraft on-time mostly because they were seriously underpaid for the amount of manual labor we had to do($8-$9 an hour) and they just didn't care. It is also easy for a handler to throw a suitcase on a belt going to the wrong flight on accident as, at least for United at San Francisco International, there is no real monitoring system. Except for actual aviation enthusiasts, such as soon-to-be pilots and such who work as handlers, many of the employees are poor/ish and might steal or "misplace" a bag as there are many nooks and crannies in the underworld of an airport. I hope this is not the case in your Grand Daughter's situation! Best of luck.

Thank you for you concern . My huswband workrd for an Airline for over 25 years not as a baggage handeler but he also saw many things that should not have happened and he also has so many funny stories and sad ones .Life as a airport worker is so different to any other place of work but most people would not really understand that

my life was travelling with our 15 month daughter to india last month. The check-in person had taken away her umbrella stroller at the boarding gate promising us that it would be given to her at London. They didnt give it london, nor did she get it in mumbai (not her final destination). the airlines told us that the stroller didnt make it. we got it three days later couriered to us in trivandrum. it was indeed so much trouble.

I am happy you finally got the stroller back it can be so frustrating especially when you have a stop over and have no stroller. When my children were younger we were allowed to put the stroller in the cabin were the coats and larger items are kept

I'm sorry this happened to your granddaughter. Did she have a tag on her bag with her name and telenumber? I know this has happened and she will get it back. Its just the aggravation of it. Please let us know what happens. Hopefully she will have it soon. I have never lost luggage.

Yes it was all labelled and had her contact details, it was just workers mistakes, they don't know the impact it has on some people as it is a regular occurrence as far as they are concerned
