Do vampires really exist? I remember a friend of mine that she read a book where a n old lady but still looks young at her age would drink the blood of young virgins and even bath in their blood. Are there really such beings as vampires?

That sounds like a version of Elizabeth Bathory's story. She was a real person. And she would be considered a serial killer in our time, but back then she was thought to be a "vampire." She did kill young girls, drink their blood and bathe in it as well, believing it would give her eternal youth. There are many types of "vampires" who walk among us. There are the people who drain us of our energy and good feelings. These are "psychic or energy vampires." Anyone who drains us of something would be considered a vampire. But are there really beings who are considered undead and drink the blood of humans to survive? I would mostly doubt that is true in a literal sense.

There may be psycotics that think & act like they are vampires but i guess those with supernatural powers don't exist. They're just figments of human imaginations since medieval times. Just imagine that if vampires really exist...and convert their prey into vampires too.. there will be an exponential growth in their numbers and we could have been a world of vampires then. What do you think?

It makes sense. I was just wondering about the stories where people stay young as they drink blood of young people and also gain strength from it. Could it be true or could they be also psychotics?

That's what I thought. But I do wonder how she would look young at her age. We really don't know. Have a nice day!

It was an obsession. she may have thought it worked (better than any other 'lotion' or oil soak or anything, but I'm quite sure it didn't (work, that is). Didn't she rather die kind of young? In the bible health laws, it's very emphatic about even draining away the blood from meats... Maybe it did just the opposite and killed her.

There is no such thing as a vampire. However, there are some sick people that think they are. They go as far as going to the dentist to have their eye teeth sharpend, and they drink blood and sleep during the day.

I actually have heard of this. I saw it on TV. They really look very weird. They really do think that they can be a vampire by altering their physical nature.

I don't believe in vampires existing here...they part of the third dimension, the evil spirits.
• Philippines

So you mean you actually believe in them as well as this third dimension that you talk about?

it all depends on the mental belief of the people. i personally believe it has existed during centuries ago and not now. i dont think during this modern era vampires can exist. its foolish to think like this. but who knows nothing can happen these days.

So you actually believe that they existed centuries ago? What makes you say that?

Well I also do think that they are fictional characters. I remember when I was a lot younger, I used to believe in them. But now that I am grown and more logical, I grew out of it.

Well, I think there are really sick and twisted people who may drink human blood, but I don't think they have special powers. But, they may be maniacal and harm people because of their sick and twisted ways.

I don't believe in vampires. They are fictional. I do believe in vampire bats. If that lady is bathing in blood then yuk to her.

I also think that it is very sick that she baths in it and more sick to drink it. But it makes me wonder that she would look younger than her age.

Gosh, I sure hope not...but folks have always been fascinated by the books, the movies and the TV programs. What motivates the allure?

Well I do think that they are fictional chraracters. The allure is motivated by the fascination of people in the concept of immortality and other extra powers that comes with the vampires.

I guess vampires don't really exist. In the medieval times, stories of people who drank blood gained strength from it. Most stories were used to frighten the young ones from going out during the night. If vampires really existed, I guess, they would'nt really survive in the modern world. They would be hunted down and wooden or metal stakes would be run through their heart or probably would be burned alive as we see in the movies. Those who drank blood and bathed on it, probably are members of cults or something and are not vampires in the strict context.

Could it be true that if you drank blood, you would get younger and gain strength from it? I find it very weird and sick to do so. But why do they make such stories? Sometimes stories are half true? Could it be?

It sounds like your friend was talking about Countess Elizabeth Bathory. And no she never drank the blood, she merely bathed in it to stay young. And her demise was being bricked up in her bedroom, with only a small opening in which food was passed to her. As far as real vampires, no I don't think that they exist. People who think that they are, or people who do drink blood, yes they exist.

vampires oh my - though some would wish it to be, there have been no proof other than the conditions mentioned in the discussion that lend to the existance of movie type vampires
Throw out your thoughts on what a vampire is and I will share what I have heard in news type stories. There are people with a condition that makes them allergic to sunlight. They do not drink blood. There are people with a condition that causes them to drink blood however they go out in the day and may even work a regular job. There was that lady that believed that bathing in girls blood etc would keep her young. Remember in those days they didn't live much past their 30's though some did and she may have been one to do so and perhaps with little records she was not that old. Then also there are what is called energy vampires. Those people you get around and you just feel tired. They sap your energy. Hope this helps!!

Believe it or not it exists (the medical condition)and is called Porphyria Ppl who suffer from porphyria generally have pale skin, are very sensitive to sunlight, are severely anemic, and some have been known to actually drink blood in an attempt to relieve the cravings brought about by anemia...Its actually a really interesting thing to read about..some scholars and doctors believe that this condition is actually what brought on the myths of vamps that ppl tend to have today...

Thank you for this interesting information regarding people who suffer from this disease. Now I know that there is a scientific explanation on why people could drink blood. But my question is, does it make them younger looking?
• Philippines

What kind of condition could one person have to drink blood? I have not heard of this. I know that some people cannot go under the sun because of some sort of skin cancer but the drinking of blood, I have never heard of this condition that you talk about.

I also believe that. But I would like to know the truth behind stories that some people remain young by drinking the blood of virgins and make their skin nice by bathing in blood. Could there be any logic and scientific explanation to this?
