In what is believed to be a record sale for an item of its type, an album cover signed by all four Beatles has been sold for $115,000 at a U.S. auction. The album cover -- originally a gift by Beatles guitarist George Harrison to his sister -- was purchased for what ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com claimed to be a record public price for a signed album by the band, Virgin.com reported. The famed rock quartet had signed the copy of "Meet the Beatles" while traveling on a train bound for Washington in 1964. They offered their best individual wishes to Harrison's sister, Louise. The unique copy of the iconic group's first U.S. LP release -- which was put up for Friday's auction by Harrison's sister -- initially received a low bid of just over $25,000, the Web site said.
