Why do people have to drive huge SUVs everywhere?

I am getting so tired of seeing people drive humongous vehicles and then complain they are spending to much on gas. I can undersatnd if you have a large family, but I personally know many single people driving large SUVs like Suburbans and Tahoes. If you don't like gas prices, by a small car like a Honda Civi or something.

I've always driven small cars. I don't mind them a bit!

People drive HUGE SUV's because of the safety and the good gas mileage of course!

Unless you do a lot of off-roading, there is no reason to own an SUV. If you have a lot of kids, buy a van. They get better gas mileage and are statistically safer.

I absolutely agree. It really bothers me to hear people driving SUVs complain about gas prices.

Some people like the feeling of security you get from driving a larger vehicle. I have driven just about everything there is to drive and can tell you, I prefer the feeling of driving something large, gas bill be damned. (I've also driven both a big rig and several kinds of bus.)
