You pay a dallar, and you get 5 numbers, take a chance, and if you win!!! You get 40% of your earns to state and federal taxes under the gift tax act. Is it worth it?

If you win you still have 60% which is worthwhile. However, the vast majority of folks will be losers. I don't play the lottery myself. The worst thing about winning in my opinion is all of the sudden having so many extra friends and relatives. I have an Uncle who is related to a million dollar lottery winner. They had to move away to avoid all the money grubbers that came out of the woodwork.

If it is a once in a while thing I say it's worth it. For example: my uncle buys all of his family members lottery tickets for Christmas. It's a cheap gift for him, and it is fun for us. However, you have to be careful to not get addicted to them, because many people do.

Its worth it if you win. We have to do that first. Any big winners out there?
