I used to love to ice skate but I haven't been in a long time. My right ankle has been broken 4 times and is very weak so I can only go if I wrap it just right...and since I would also have to take all the kids with me I just don't bother anymore, it's just not fun for me anymore.

I learned how to ice skate recently..and it is fun! Initally of course I felt it was difficult..almost anything is at this age..hehe! I enjoy it a lot..back in my country we don't have snow or ice skating rinks..so I got a chance to learn it here.

Ok prepare yourself here. Remember I am Canadian, male, and a hockey fan.... I don't know how to skate.... ok calm down, its not as bad as all that, I have been skating, but I never learned how to stop and never took proper lessons. Some of you may think that isn't a big deal, but trust me where I am from it is, especially considering not only am I a Canadian male hockey fan, but I grew up in the home town of Wayne Gretzky.

Yes it is my shameful little secret. I have hidden this shameful fact from the world for years now.... When I played hockey with my friends I was the goalie and I wore boots not skates...

I didn't start skating until I was 35 or so, and now I love it. It's a great way to get some exercise in winter. I'm still not very good, and can't stop properly. Need some lessons...!

I CAN skate, just not very well..lol. I can manage a decent pace, but definitely nothing fancy. Oh, and my only way of stopping besides falling is to bang into something..lol. My kids skate very well, and I like taking them out skating, so I learn as they learn.

It has been sometime, but I did take lessons when I was younger and I enjoy watching the sport. I do not ice skate now because I do not live near a rink but as I said it is a wonderful sport.

No, I never learned how to ice skate. When I was a little girl I had gone to the rink several times with my family, put on the ice skates and went out to the ice, but always held on to the bar that was one corner of the rink. LOL I could never bring myself to actually ice skate, I was that scared. I knew the ice was slippery and the thought of me sliding and crashing into the wall or another person discouraged me from learning.

I couldn't ever get the hang of ice skating when I was a kid, even though I tried on many occassions. It wasonly when I was an adult that I got to the point where I didn't have to clutch the rail. I haven't done it in years, but recently found out there is a new rink about half an hour north of us and I am looking forward to trying it out. It will be fun to watch the kids learn, too.

The first time i tried it was 7 yrs. ago. and first time i set foot and the rink, i slipped. But it didn't stop me from trying and learning how to skate. It's fun. You have to learn to balance yourself and glide in the ice. These days, kids are taking ice skating lessons, i've seen them practice and at their young age, they can already do various stunts. Actually, it is easier to learn when you are young than when you're a bit older.

I don't know how to ice skate. I've tried to learn a couple times. The last time I fell on my back and hit my head against the ice. Thankfully nothing bad happened because of that.

I have not really had much experience with it, as I was raised in the south and the south west. I did try it a few times in NY, and liked it.

I have never been ice skating! But I would love to! However, before I ever think of doing that, I will want to figure out how to securely attach a thick pillow to my bottom! I have been told, that would you hit, you hit hard. I am not into self punishment. ha ha So, even though I would LOVE to learn, I would have to be sure to have something to break my fall! LOL

Ice Skating - i learned to ice skate as a child and have loved it so much!
I learned how to ice skate as a child and have loved it ever since! I haven't been in quite a while, but we've been talking about going soon, and just the thought of it brings back great memories! I think the one thing I will always think of when ice skating comes to mind is the first and only time my dad tried to ice skate. He stepped onto the ice, went to take off, promptly fell flat and went sliding across the rink, waving to me all the way! I laughed so hard i couldn't skate! Yes, absolutely wonderful memories!
