I think tattoos are body art. they are an expression of creativity. I see our bodies as a canvas.

I have three tatts I`ve got a heart by my ankle , my kids names on my right arm and a flower on my left I don`t think its mutilation unless the person over does it then I consider it grosse. To each their own thats the way I see it

body art is a great form of expression. Unfortunatly in our day in age, people are not open minded. filling your body with to much "art" will most likely make it harder for you to find a good job. I dont like the way society looks at things like that :(

yes it is a great form of art and people frown on it. But I know some people go a little over board with the art. lol thanks for your response

I think that tattoos are more about art than they are about mutilation, but they are used as both. I have had friends that have gotten tattoos because they like the pain, but I am more into tattoos as being art.

I look at it as body art, but I feel it can be taken too far.

I consider tattoos body art and as a form of epression of ones self. Also in the case of prison or military tattoos, it is the expression of an era the person went through.

It depends I guess where a person has the Tattoo, and the size of them. I have seen people who have them to where they look gaudy and tacky, and then others who have small ones like on their ankle and such you can hardly see. Now if you are one who wants to get your whole body covered with them, I think that is tacky, and a waste of $$.

I have recently had my first tattoo on my ankle of a butterfly with part of my star sign on it. I look at it as body art although it did hurt! lol But not all agree as I have found out quick enough.

Me personally, I do not like them. But I do not like them for me. I have seen some that I think look cute, and seem to fit with the person's personality. Also, I think they are more trendy now. When I was a teen, only a couple people I knew had them. Before that, it was mostly guys in the military who got them. But now, lots of people get them. Its a sign of the times.

Yes when I got mine some people were getting them but seems after I got mine there was an explosion in the tat world. I think a lot of it has to do with shows like Miami Ink and then the specials they have on tattoos. Thanks for the response

It's definately an art. I like small ones. I dont like the ones they call sleeves. I wanted a tattoo of a white tiger at one time but decided against it. I was havin a hard time deciding if I wanted it for the rest of my life or not. So for now I dont. Who knows what I will think in a few weeks or so.

I would double think about getting anything done in white because it fades into a pinkish color after time. Well is what the girl in the shop told me. Ya I like the little ones but to each his or her own..thanks for the response

Tattoos are not new by any means, I belive its everyones right to express themselves as they want. I myself have 2 tatoos, and i have plans on getting a back piece, i just need to find the right artist for the job. So I belive tattoos are art.

Well not very long ago when you could never get rid of a tattoo once you get it. It could have been mutilation of skin but now that you can get'em removed, it appears more like body art to me.
