I ask myself that very same question everyday!!! I have too many kids and too many things going on to ever get to do what I want to. I can't stick to a schedule either! It's so frustrating. My boyfriend is the total opposite and I get on his nerves badly! So, here's some tips that he gave me...(and yes, some of them do work, lol) First off, start small. If you are trying to come up with a schedule to stick with, you are going to try several different ones, before you actually work all the snags out! Second, MAKE LISTS!! (This one helps me the most) Every night before I go to bed, I sit down and make a list of everything that I HAVE to get done the next day...and then I make a list of the things that I would like to do. Normally, I don't have enough time to do many on my "want to do" list, but sometimes I get to do a few. It's getting better everyday. Third, ask for help! I sometimes will ask my kids to pitch in on my housework in exchange for a trip to the park (where I can sit and enjoy myself without hearing "MOM" every 5 seconds). I hope this helps! Good LUck! And have a GREAT day!

Even though if there is 26 hours per day, then also humans will tell that no time to do some tasks. We've to plan to pick up time to all the planned activities in a day!!

For many of us, it seems as if we are bouncing from one crisis to another. How can we get ahead when we can't even keep up? There are some things that each of us can do to help ourselves manage our time more effectively. Effective time management is a conscious decision where we decide what is important and then plan our time and our lives around these things. The key is to use proactive thinking. Don't wait and let time make its demands on you; instead, put yourself in the driver's seat and decide what you will do with your time. What are my values and my goals? Where do I want to end up? What is truly important to me? What actions do I need to take to make things happen?

YEs when you have a busy lifestyle the days can go fast.I think if your not getting everything done that needs to be done you should write down the night before all the things for next day and if you can see there wont be enough time for all the that you can pass it over for the next day.

Oh my, Tigereyes, I SO hear you. I am the manager of a small franchised fast-food restaurant in Ottawa and one of the biggest problems I've had over the past eighteen months has been lack of proper time management. As a result of learning my problems, my boss gave me a few tips that I'd love to share with you. 1. Get yourself a 31 day file folder. Make yourself a list of to-do things and place them in the appropriate dates. This way you can go into the file folder every day and see a specific list of things to do and you can mark them off as you do them. 2. Put your 'completed' jobs in an envelope and at the end of every month, take them out and be amazed at all the things you accomplished! 3. Every time you find yourself overwhelmed, stop. Breathe. Have something to eat or drink. Breathe again. Then get back at it. 4. Don't let things distract you (like in my case, the internet LOL). You may do what I do and literally shake it off. Bring yourself back to the present and talk yourself back into productivity. 5. Keep a date book. Give yourself a specific amount of things to do every day. Don't overbook yourself! For example, if your goal for the week is to get the house clean, just do one room at a time, one every day till the whole house is done! I hope some of this helps. Good luck to you!

I get SO MUCH MORE done when I make lists. First I make the list of what I need to do. Then I look through them and consider both their importance as well as the LOCATION of each task. It wastes more time to do ALL of the most important things first if you have to cross town 3 times to do them. So then I look back at my list and I number each one which order I will do them in. I cross them off the list as I go along. If one takes longer than expected and there's a time deadline on another (like an appointment or the business closes earlier than most) then I have to re-number the order of the remaining tasks (just pushing them down 1 in their order). Sometimes towards the end of the tasks, I can see that those may not be pertinent for TODAY, so I can choose which ones I will do and what it's okay to push off for tomorrow. This way, I can probably still get in a little fun at the end of the day. Best of luck to you!! Aloha!

its silly we all have the same amount of time, its not time that is the problem its task management we just need to recognise that there is only so much that can be done in our time and learn to leave everything that cant be done alone

I think first think of the most important things that you need to do, keep those things as the first priority to be done then you can do the next important and so on, so that you have finished most of your work hope this helps

If you figure this one out, please let me know. It seems like the older I get, the less time in the day.

Do you have a planner, first. If not get one are us a online calender. You must make the most of you day and get things do in order of priority. Just list the major thing that need to be done and have you idle time around it. It sounds like you were listing everything that will leave you feeling overwhelmed. Hope this helps I have 3 girls and in order to keep up with them I have to plan

Hi Tigereyes and welcome to myLot. I hope you like it here. As you can see, there are some helpful folks on here, and some that are not as helpful. I too have a "heck of time managing time". I have a lot of irons in the fire, so to speak, and it feels like I don't have time to accomplish them all. One of my New Years Goals it to be better at managing my time and organizing my lifestyle. From what I have been hearing on this discussion and from other people, the key to time management is organization. You say you are not good on schedules, neither am I. Something always happens and the schedule flies right out the door, then I get frusterated and give up on the whole day. I plan on doing lists to keep myself on track. But, if you are like me, you will want to "overbook" your list. I suggest not putting more than 3 big tasks (of course this depends on how big the big task is) and maybe 7 littler tasks on a list per day. Check off what you complete when you complete it, it will give you a sense of accomplishment. If you don't get it all done in one day, put what you didn't get done at the top of the next day's list. I find that I do better if I make my lists out at the beginning of the day, rather than the night before. Remember to get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and exercise to help refresh yourself. You can get a handle on it. I hope this helped a little.

I do the following: I print myself a weekly calender on a Sunday. then I start plotting my tasks and due dates on that calender for each day. I put also time for relaxing and spending quality time with firnds and family. The secret is to prioritise all the things that will or has to happen in the week ahead. I do this every Sunday and it works well for me.

before retiring to bed every night make a list of things you would want to do each day. from this list prioritize your items as important, not so important, decisive, has to be finished to day. Then as per your priorities set your list into a timetable and work out on it. this is like a road map if you have no road map then you do not know where you are moving.

I am not sure complaining about your lack of time and time management is going to get much validity hanging out here on MyLot. You could be off managing your time or doing something constructive instead of posting here and wasting time!
