Do you think you can truly know a person online?

I've noticed that some people are very different in person than they are online. Is this the exception or the norm?

i've met my boyfriend online. but before him, i've talked to other men online. and after sometime, you'll get to know who they really are. and when i met my boyfriend, i thought he's just like others. but he's different. who he is when i met him online is also the same person when i met him for real. and we're in this relationship for 8 months now and we are very happy with the love we have for each other. i think, we don't need to rush things out. we should give time to know the person well first. some get tricked with money and power. which isn't just right. it's not that easy to find a true person through the internet. my boyfriend is a hard find. and i am so lucky.

That's terrific! So talking with him in person is the same as when you were communicating online? I've found that people are often more open online than in real life, and that there's something about the online environment that subtly alters a person's personality. it's great to hear that this is not always the case.

i think it is a norm, as for me i do sometimes pretend when i am online because i am adapting to who i am chatting to, but most of the time i play being myself online. but it is still best if you know them personally because you candetect their over all self.

That's interesting. I agree with you. I tihnk a lot of people adapt to whomever they are chatting with. I appreciate the response!
